Nandos - Who has been?

Freefaller sums it up for me, totally agree with him!

Straight up chicken fest. Chicken. Yep.

It's good for what it is, but the portions have gone downhill over the last 7years at least, they'll be serving chicks soon well not quite but it's not so good now. But for a quick meal it's pretty good, well it's so basic it cant be done wrong.

I really like it but it is very expensive for what it is. Never the less, the fact that I can have a healthier chicken lunch with mash and slaw than going to a burger place is refreshing. The taste is excellent and the chicken is well cooked. I never have to wait at mine but I only go at lunch occasionally, never for an evening out

Nando's expensive?

It's roughly £8 per person when i go.

An expensive sit in meal is one which costs £20+ per head.
An okay price for a sit in meal is £15 per head.
A cheap price for a sit in meal is less than £10 per head

(talking about food only in the above)

I wouldn't classify it as a restaurant or fast food but somewhere in the middle. It's a lot healthier than fast food joints for example and gives you a lot of healthy choices you simply don't get in KFC. If your looking at it like a fast food KFC type place then yeah, it is expensive but that isn't the truth now is it, it's completely different from those types of places because they simply don't just fry everything in sight. You get served your meal on a plate, not in a wrapper, you get proper cutlery, proper sauces, proper glasses to drink out of, whereas everything in fast food joints is cardboard or plastic. Plus have you seen the state of fast food joints, they look horrible, brightly coloured, plastic chairs, horrible tables.

Going to the supermarket and picking up a roast chicken is okay if you like chicken on the bone, but maybe you should try the pitta's they do in Nando's next time they are a lot better than having chicken on it's own. Make sure you pour some chilli garlic sauce into it though. The peri chips should be eaten on their own (no sauce).

Nando's is for when you want something cheap, quick, tasty and no fuss but don't want to sit in a hole like KFC.

I read that and thought, wow I'm cheap, I don't think I've ever eaten anywhere that costs £20 per head, most I've ever had is a mixed grill that was £15 and that was in a Toby Carvery lol

and don't knock KFC, their gravy is like Cocaine to me lol.

Nothing nicer than picking up a cheap cooked chicken from Tesco and attacking it with a big knife, cutting all the meat off the bones and demolishing the lot!

TGI Friday's for example can easily become £20 per head if you have 3 courses

Oh I see, I thought you meant like a single dish lol

Yeah well the starter's in nando's are like £3 each we usually share one because their starter's aren't proper starters.

Usually have the olives everything else apart from the nuts is meh.

All the desserts in Nando's are meh too.

Therefore we never have one.

So 2 pitta's, olives and 2 soft drinks (refillable) usually comes to around £10 per head.

Basically Nando's is the type of place where you have a main meal only, imo it is not expensive, it's pretty fairly priced imo.

Who here has been to Nandos?

Around here there is a massive hype about it, not sure if this is a local thing or a national. Probably made worse because a new one opened last week.
Seriously? It's been around here for maybe 16-17 years :p

Well you cant just count out half the meal... Double chicken breast wrap with cheese, a starter and a drink ~£20, ergo expensive (for a lunch, don't think I'm a cheapo with food...)

i would like to see the maths behind that.

starter's are all roughly £3 each.

pitta's i know are roughly £7-8 each with a side

drinks can't be more than a couple of quid.

i can just about manage the following for an evening meal, never mind lunch:

olives (shared)
beanie pitta with peri chips
sprite

and im really full, don't know how you can do a double with cheese for lunch.

You want to see the maths? Try looking at the menu? £13 for the double pita, about 20p for cheese, £3.35 for a starter, that £17 already and the beers are about £3

Easy

didn't know double pitta's were roughly twice the price of a single

i would expect a few quid on top but not double, this may be where you are going wrong, have dessert instead and you should be able to knock a few quid off that, also beer at lunch, soft drink instead maybe?
