Natural/in built motivation?

Would I look like too much of a belm playing squash on my own, do people do that?

I imagine most places you can play squash will also have a squash club. Go along, meet some people and play?

I'm fortunate in that I have a wife and three kids, so we're always trying new things to keep them active, outside (away from tech) and out of trouble. ;) We tried paddle boarding last year and now have two boards. We're not proficient enough or kitted out for winter paddling, so waiting for the weather to improve. But it all started with a taster session at the local marina.

I often find it's the first step that's the hardest and I have to put out of my mind the bigger picture, the goal, as it can often make the task too daunting and I won't start; especially DIY. I was blessed with a dad that was very hands-on and practically gifted, so he would come over and get me started. But he died 18 months ago and now any DIY task just reminds me of how reliant I was on him and it makes jobs all the more difficult. But I break down jobs into small parts, enough to at least start them and that's usually enough. Again, I'm lucky to have a family that I can get on board. I needed to lift and re-lay a section of my drive as it had sunk and was collecting water. I've been putting it off for ages. I have all the tools and bought all the materials, but couldn't get motivated to start it. It made me think of my dad. But then I started to think, 'What would he say if he saw me here, procrastinating?' So I turned it around and press-ganged my son into helping. We got it done and it actually turned out to be a great father/son moment I hope we remember for a long time.

I guess I'm saying what's already been said by a few people - small steps...

Have you looked at CBT or anything like that to try and help? Sometimes just doing that, i.e. seeking help can be a massive motivator.

I think talking therapy/counselling might be worth a go, do you get it on the NHS or better off sorting it myself?

https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/mental-health/find-a-psychological-therapies-service/

https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/ta...gnitive-behavioural-therapy-cbt/how-it-works/

Or you can get a referral from your GP if you prefer.

I've done some CBT over the years and it has been incredibly useful / efficient - it doesn't "cure" you,but certainly helps put you on the right path and improved elements I was struggling with. :)

I would say it is built in your own nature.. you can try to push passed your limitations and grow but that requires inner strength. Force of will.

You get generally 3 types of people.
Those not afraid of a confrontation, those who avoid it but tend to be passive-aggressive and those who make a comeback through wit.

I always seemed to see direct people as passionate and more open to life, indirect and avoidant are usually scared of life. The witty ones feel good amongst people and lack personality of their own, they are shifty and usually more easily lead by the crowd.

There is also multiple layers to most people.
I am not a very outgoing person. I am generally friendly and courteous in person, I hide the more direct version of myself behind a veil of detachment.

If I know people I will test them,. I don't know why I do this, but it is a part of my nature, I guess it is finding where I stand with the people I am around, it can be subtle. Power games.
But this is also me wanting to know others better, I would rather have someone smack me on the chin or call me directly what they think than guess.

Also not everyone is depressed.
People here are giving armchair diagnoses like everyone should fit one bill.

The OP, you come across to me as a Libra, likely a tonne of Libra placements in your natal chart.

Ooh this place did not expect the astrology!
See what I mean?

Does it just come naturally or do people really have to try hard or convince themselves to do stuff?
When i have a girlfriend am always out doing stuff going places, Holidays, out walking, going around to friends etc etc

But when am single i just spend around 85% of my free time just laying around the house doing nothing :(
In the summer months i get out a lot as am always out on the motorbike if the weather not to bad

I don't do hocus pocus, but for what it is worth I'm a Cancer.

Tbh, just because people have hobbies or do more with their time doesn't mean they live in a utopia in their minds.

a lot of what you say I can slightly understand. I sometimes struggle to find enjoyment in things, I am not always buzzing about socialising and big life moments and it makes me question myself, why aren't I enjoying this more? Should I be more emotional? Is it something that is wrong with me?

I think it can be "normal" to struggle to motivate yourself or even simply find enjoyment in things we are "supposed" to.

It's a difficult one and I don't have any answers for you, really, it would be easy for me to just say do x y and z, but it's your journey and it's probably a good sign you have opened up this discussion on here. There is already a lot of good advice.

I don't do hocus pocus, but for what it is worth I'm a Cancer.
Same zodiac as me apparently.

:cool::cry:

I tell ya though, if you did this it would reveal why we are so different, different chart, different signs.

Mars in astrology is what rules our drive, mine is in Taurus conjunct the Moon in Taurus which likely means nothing to you as you have no knowledge.

An interesting subject if you ever wish to delve into it.

To most it is hocus pocus until they see their natal chart and connect the dots themselves, reading up what it all does and means, they find their own personality was literally right there.

It is one of the best tools to self discovery if you wish to use it, you don't have to, many are followers of the crowd and that is their prerogative.

Now Mystic Meg and newspapers, yes that's BS. Money makers.

Original astrology is not involved with money, it is simply divine knowledge as they call it. It is not some forecast on your future either.

Cancer are non confrontational, they are passive-aggressive, this changes hugely depending on where the Moon was when born (The ruler for the Moon is Cancer) Deeply emotional, some try to hide their emotional behavior and it blocks them in life, they treat people like crap, or you get some different types.

For example, Brock Lesnar is a Sun in Cancer with Moon in Gemini and a Taurus Mars, a monster in the MMA ring once was and was a professional wrestler.
Mike Tyson, Mars in Gemini square Pluto in Virgo,a monster but truly deep down an emotional person who never healed.

If you think astrology is BS... you can, but it all lines up.

I have the opposite conjunction of Bruce Lee who had Moon conjunct Mars in Scorpio, now you may understand why I find Bruce Lee to speak so much sense and give amazing wisdom.
He is a Sagittarius Sun with Jupiter in Taurus. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter.

My Sun which is who we are, everone is born of the Sun on this Earth and the properties of Earth, my ego is Cancerian but is conjunct a planet known as Jupiter, which gives me the very characteristics of Sagittarius in a way too.

I like to explore, I like to try new things.. always been like this, I settle down easily though, Cancer's want a partner for life mostly.
Most Cancer also want a family and a person to love them, whilst they take care of the family.

I think you are a bit empty and lonely based on what I typed.

I don't usually do astrology anywhere because people fear it from bias and misconstruement of what astrology truly is.

But if you want me to help you out, PM me your DOB and time of birth if you know it and I shall dive in.

No you are not under some stupid spell or other magic crap you think exists, that crap don't exist.

If our lives are based on star signs aren't we then just saying you may as well give up if you were born in x/y/z as its in the stars?...

No, since they are just a blueprint from birth, what happens after then is all literally a process of the world around us, our experiences, upbringing etc. There is also the fact that we as people take interest in different things, for example a person born a day before me is a well known English singer.
His Moon though is in Aries, not Taurus like me or the next singer, different emotional temperament, but because of the conjunction to Mars, very enthusiastic and driven.
15th July 1990

His latest is deeply symbolic of his Cancerian Nature.. Water sign with Moon as the ruler.

A person in America born the same day 16th July 1990 was a Nikolodian star and sings too, oddly I also really enjoy singing but am not famous.

I am 6ft tall and weigh in at around 14 - 15 stone, quite muscular with some fat now too, yet I can sing the song by Years and Years perfectly.

The other dude born on the same day as me is much more muscular than the guy born the day before and taller, same build as me, yet we know it is all genetics....
Some of it is genetics but not all.

The blueprint of a person is just the set in which we start out with.

James Maslow has a similar ring to Michael Jackson.
Jackson though is a Virgo.

All 4 of us share the same Mercury in Leo, which is our voice.

Strange Maslow did a MJ cover..

He also enjoys experiencing new things...

Next step.

Generational differences.

We are all keenly aware of generational differences.
I am a millennial going by that.

I was born when Saturn was in Capricron, Pluto was in Scorpio and Neptune & Uranus were also in Capricorn.
The termed boomer generation is the Leo generation, Pluto in Leo.

Leo and Scorpio do not get on, they square in astrology by mathematical degree.
The energies are very against each other, not through any means of self but the energy it's self is not compatible.

Ever wondered why a whole collective generation point to boomers?

Wonder no more.

Bruce Lee is a Boomer, I find great wisdom in learning from life rather than pointing out the flaws all the time, it's a generational karma that is built through the subconscious emotional energy of families but also everything such as opression etc.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, it is at home in this sign, how did Millennials destroy everything?
Pluto is a destroyer, it ends what was and implements a new version, it is like the death of the ego, for you to grow again.

Except, a lot of people are unconscious to this, they don't see how they are so broken and project upon the world.

Racial baiting and trying to get revenge over things people did not do in this generation, yet they feel like we should face some kind of concequence for things outside of our control.

The changes by our generation have already been done, we already have full control of what comes next... yet people still want more, this is the dark side of this energy, to just simply destroy.

"Pluto as Generational Planet
Pluto generations show how an age group finds its power to deeply change society. An entire generation will share the same sign, and this gives shades of meaning to the mark they make on the world.

Astronomers demoted Pluto in 2006, and it's now considered a "dwarf planet," but astrologers still reckon it to be a powerful force on a collective and individual level. It is positioned at the outer edge of the Solar System and was discovered in 1930 after the invention of the telescope. Of all the major bodies, Pluto is the smallest and furthest away from the Sun."
