Got my one now, packing boxes looked ok. Took monitor out and everything looks good. Not going to turn it on till saturday as I will be woking a couple of nights. Good excuse to let it acclimatise in the house and to let it rest standing up.

Z3R0-CooL,thanks for the reply myfriend,the back light is i would say 50% better today, but after 1 hour of playing rome total war its creeping back in all 4 corners again 
i think i will call nec tomorrow, this monitor is so cool besides the bleed

Bah! NEC say they can't deliver the monitor for the weekend now...I'm really starting to lose patience with them, how is it every supplier has them delivered for new customers yet I'm told there's none available and that "I should be Patient!" Why can't the RMA department just keep some in stock instead of getting them sent from Germany? At this moment I'm sorely tempted to demand a refund and wait for the 2407.

my is on its way now , apparent the lable on the box was damaged. "worrying" is it a good idea before switching the monitor on, to leave to to stand for a couple of days before switching it on ?

Just got my NEC today...
I must say it really is great.
I have a 2 dead pixels, 1 toward the top right and one toward the top left, they are only visible really on green, so im not bothered about them! I also have backlight bleed in all corners slightly and quite bad bottom left as with most people. I will see if this goes within a couple of days, and if not then maybe think about rma.
My main question is about the colour settings. Has anyone found the best settings? Or is there a good callibration file? Or a good method? Im just doing it by my eyes at the mo....

I have taken a picture of the monitor which shows back light bleed from all corners. I have saved this photo to my hard drive. How do I find the address to put on, to be able to show you. I have just read FAQ, but still not very clear.

Personally if RMA was not available I would return under distance selling regs. Sorry but dead pixels are a no no.
My first tft, about 4 years ago had 2 dead pixels...I was the same as you, blown away by the monitor & thought I could live them. I was wrong! Bugged the hell out of me everytime I turned it on..Never again!

I may be off the mark in my previous post, i realised i hadnt cleaned my monitor, and wether my eyes are just to tired now! But i cant see the pixels i mentioned before. I will check again tomorrow and see if they are there or not....but hopefully it was just a couple of bits of dust! *hopes*

just spoke with NEC returns...... and they have no stock to do a RMA and that they have no idea when they are going to get stock. They also recommend sending unit back to supplier.
The woman recomends me getting my money back as she said she has got an official email from NEC japan stating that there is an issue with the backlight and that it cannot be resolved and that99.9% of the TFTs are affected. So even when they do get stock the unit MOST LIKELY will have the same problem.......

you should have asked her then:
"So why isn't NEC recalling the defective product?"
"Should i call my lawyer/solicitor and have it solved in court?"
thats what i would have said if she told me something like that...I will call on Monday if they dont call me today (told me they would) and thats exactly what i will say if they tell me the same things.
i suggest u do the same.
