No he aint German, hehe he is dealing with the issue in the UK and speaking on my behalf to Germany to get this problem sorted to provide a good level of service to OcUK customers. :)

Wait until Wednesday, remember the people your talking too are just staff who aint got a clue, the fix for this issue won't filter down to them yet for a couple of days which is when they will have a solution of offer you a new replacement without issue. :)
 
Cheers Dup, had a look there earlier but at forums not user reviews, seems like they have same probs over the water. Well waiting out till mid week and see If NEC germany have spoken to monitor support here.
 
Hmm.. been following this with interest. I've just been considering replacing the ol' CRT (Sony 200ES here) with either the Dell or NEC 20" widescreen..

I'll give it a week and see what the status is then... pity as it looks like a good monitor (when there's no problem).

I'd suspect that OcUK don't have the resources for doing that. Instead I'd push the channel sales account management of NEC to offer free replacement and free shipping for panel replacements sold through OcUK.
I'd also suspect that as they've got the possibility to sell like hot potatoes until the new Dell comes out then prices would remain stable..

You're best buying one with this deal and dealing with NEC if you have any problems. At the end of the day, NEC will send you a good replacement, OCUK can only wait for a new NEC shipment or let you take a gamble with their possibly faulty stock.

I ordered mine last night, can't wait till tomorrow :D
 
As Dup said get one, good deal at the moment. It is the best monitor out there at the moment in me eyes. Dont let the problems which some of us are getting deter you from this. Gibbo is giving us great support and NEC Germany know about this problem and are very willing by the sounds of it to rectify it. If you have a problem when you get it give it a bit, It is now 4 days for me and my bleed is getting worse but some others are healing but that is the luck of the draw when new tech is released. The end of the day we have good support from here and by wednesday/thursday we will be getting good support from NEC monitor support in the Uk
 
Just to let u know my 7 days runs out thursday but I am not sending this one back, waiting out for NEC. That is how much I am loving this monitor apart from the bleed, everything else is jaw dropping. Everything will sort out in the end (fingers and toes crossed).
 
Well i just got mine delivered and it has the same bleed problem, called NEC they said there is nothing they can do for me while they investigate the problem which is baout 2 weeks the guy recons.

But the lovely people at ocuk have arranged rma, i'll test the monitor for another 24 hours incas eth eproblem clears if not i'll be sending the bugger back.

NEC's reputation has certainly taken a hit on this one, they used to be the best but this is some what surprising from them.

Has anyone tried pinching the corners of the LCD to see if it affects the bleed?

Not the screen itself but the bezel. I'm wondering weather it could be fiddled with without opening the casing in case you want piece of mind and a warranty swap.
 
Dup, didnt make any difference when I lightly pressed on the bezel. Hudson know what you mean about NEC, they have a good rep for doing good monitors thats why I chose this one, we have got about 6 19" NEC ones in work and they are perfect nothing wrong with them at all. It does seem as if something has gone wrong with these ones. Hopefully the replacements will be from a good batch and these might be ones which have just slipped through the net.
I did read from Igors posts that they do have backlight warranty so I was surprised with the reaction when I rang NEC yesterday morning. Just wish I could speak german, I would have rang their support line :D
