I then spoke to someone called Sarah (from the warranty/repair service) and she mentioned that there has been a change in the manufacturing process for the monitor and that the backlight bleeding should be fixed and will be shipped out to those waiting for a replacement.
Great news. If they managed to sort out the manufacturing problem, I guess that if the panel uniformity is now on the same or similar level as on my review model, people should be able to enjoy this panel on completely new level ;)

LOL You are the lucky winner! of the NEC 20WGX2 and OCUK will ship you one today, no questions asked! :D

Seriously :| Dont get my hopes up, ive been gagging for a TFT for about 4 years, the 22" CRT only sits about 4 inches from my nose and i cant lift it anymore...

I'll take yours tho igors...seems fair...:)

I have my finger hovering over the buy button right now! Would you guys recommend this over the Viewsonic VX2025, the Nec looks great but is it worth that extra £100+ ?

The 20WGX2 by a mile....I have had both and the NEC is the one that is still on my desk. :)

Can ocuk staff confirm? I'm waiting one one of these too.

Ta chucks :)

This is the e-mail response i received when i asked them about the backlight bleed question:

"I believe that they were recalled and that this new batch is one with that
particular problem sorted."

After reading the whole of this thread, and the ones on widescreen forums and Hardforum about the NEC LCD20WGX2, I've finally ordered this monitor (been basically looking for a monitor to replace my 17" CRT since the beginning of this year).

Now i just hope that it will be perfect (i.e. no backlight bleeding or dead/lazy pixels).

Btw i've noticed that Igors has posted regularly on all threads related to this monitor, the guy must be devoted to convincing everyone how good the WGX2 actually is. :D :p

Which email address did you use?

I can't seem to find a support email addy for them.

From speaking with NEC my understanding is that there has been some modification in the manufacturing process which has resolved the backlight bleed problem, so all the replacements they are sending out to customers who reported the problem to them and the new stock they are selling is from stock which does not have this problem.

Yep, i mentioned that in a post yesterday.

Several users on wsgf recieved the NEC and no trace of backlight bleed is reported (or dead pixels). It would be interesting what other users will report, but hopefully things will turn out nicely.

ITS HERE!!!!!

Well i arrived from work today and my lovely replacement monitor has a rrived and guess what..... (Dramatic pause0 NO DEAD SPOTS NO LIGHT BLEED!!!!!

Will continue to mintor situation but all in all its spot on and flawless so far (touch wood).

Me thinks NEC may have tested it off the shelf mind ;) but other than that I think they cracked it.

Well done NEC.

Get ** orders in folks the issue seems to be resolved and your missing out on the purchase of your lifetime (so far :p)
