However i was using the UDPixel program from this link http://udpix.free.fr/ and i set the Flash Window setting to 10 and pressed start and it came up with 8 flashing boxes from the top left in a diagonal line? Does this indicate 8 dead/stuck pixels? I cant seem to notice them when changing to any colour it seems.
LOL ... sorry icemansin, that was really funny question. I understand that you are quite new with the LCD screens, so I will try to explain you this. Don't worry, you will get there at the end ;) UDPixel is unable to find the dead/stuck pixels for you. You have to look for them with your own eye and use those square flashing boxes on them in order to possibly bring them back to life. In that sense, you have to fill the screen with the uniform colour (just click on the colour tabs from UDpixel) and then start to look for them. Sometimes, with such tight dot pitch, it's very difficult to find them at first instance (if they exist). However, even if you find one or two dark/dead pixels I doubt that you will be able to see them in normal monitor usage, as they are not distracting. If you have stuck pixels which are visible on the black background (they are green, blue or red) that can be probably more distracting. Anyhow, hope this will clear the mistery for you.

Phew :D

Thanks for the info, i did test out all the colours available on the left hand side of the program before i clicked on "Start" but i couldnt find anything abnormal.

Just been through the colours again and i think i've found my first dead pixel? :( (or maybe lazy pixel) at least I know what those flashing boxes are for now :D . How long do i leave the flashing box over the offending pixel (i can only see it on white/yellow backgrounds, it looks black to me). The flashing box can only help to revive stuck/lazy pixels but not dead ones right?

I do think its pretty hard to detect dead pixels especially on a 20inch screen, or maybe its just my untrained eye.

Thanks again Igors.

The reason why i got a confused a bit was because i thought that selecting 10 flash boxes on the settings would bring up 10 of those on the screen but instead only 8 showed so i just feared the worst. :p :D

I have just set up my replacement screen.

Awesome! No bleed, straight buttons and no dead/sub pixel problems.

Good service from NEC, shame it took two months
to sort.

Happy bunny.

Mine arrived today, I have to say I am stunned by the picture quality, the colours look so vibrant and 'ALIVE' it's simply beautiful.

I have zero dead pixels and the screen seems to have no backlight bleed that I can see.

I bought my 17 Inch Hitachi TFT from OC about 4 years ago and it certainly has never produced images like the NEC.

Big thumbs up so far!

Can i ask the question again as i asked before.....what product is best to clean this screen and where can you get it?
I use a lint free pentax lens / glasses cleaning cloth after a bit of hot breath to moisten the screen but other makes will do the same thing, probably able to get these from a camera shop or opticians :)

Well I'm gonna be sending back my old one on tuesday, the light bleed has gone, theres no dead pixels on this one and the buttons work great.

Seems NEC have finally got it sorted, I do sometimes wish i had gone for the 20 wide viewsonic but I'm done. Doubt I'll buy NEC again after this....

Now for my next purchase.....anyone know owt about DVB tuners for pc (usb kind).

Well i was supposed to receive my replacement monitor today, but it seems to be a no show!!

Anyone else had this problem?

Will try and give Sarah a ring on Monday (maybe Tuesday as its a bank holiday)

Fingers crossed my new one is perfect....

What on earth bezel colour have to do anything with TCO standards ? Quite amusing.

Lol, I know what you mean, I could be wrong but I think its to do with how your perception of screen brightness etc is influenced by the colour next to it such as the bezel colour, or if you want to show off your fake tan you wear a white or bright t shirt not a black one ( not me, just an observation honest ;) )

As an example have a very close look at the picture below, do the legs stay the same brightness / colour ?
