Crossfire still gives me no performance gain (in fact I think it's worse), Eyefinity is juddery and unplayable, I give up just gonna turn off Crossfire and play single screen :(

Looks like EA aren't letting SMS do further patches for Shift :

" EA confirmed on Twitter that the release of the DLC pack and the second patch ends the post-release development process of Shift 2 Unleashed as no further patches for any platform are planned "

And people running the Steam version should apparently have a new MLAA method to play with and higher gfx settings available, as their patch is slightly different from the dvd/non-steam download/origin versions :

I am struggling since latest patch, works ok for a couple of races then my FPS drops without warning at the start of the race to 20 fps from 60.. Restarting the game completely fixes but only for a while! So frustrating!

Anyone else have this?

With regards to my problem in post 937, I spoke to ea chat today and after quite a wait to speak to a level 2 tech support they gave me a origin version of the game. They was not happy to do so at first, telling me that its a steam game and I should contact steam for support, but once I linked some pages from nogripracing.com where the pc lead designer admitted that there are 2 versions of the patch and the one that went to steam was an earlier version released in error, they changed their tune and sorted me another copy of the game.

Am not really fussed about the extra graphical setting in the steam version, playing with mates is more important to me :)

I'm confused, cant find a download link for 1.02 retail patch so I assume there isnt one.

I HAVE to register my shop bought game on origin to get the new patch?

Ah I see now I get it, so I dont even need to reinstall the game, great.

Stupid question but theyre not going to send me a boxed copy of the dlc are they?

I can't recommend this Career Mod by Tulib highly enough.

At the moment it only covers Classes C & D, the Readme reads as follows:

This mod is a part of a full career mod that is going to be made eventually.
The idea is to transform the Shift 2 Unleashed career into something much more immersive and enjoyable.
The mod is compatible with the english and german versions as of now.
I recomend to start a new career once you install this mod to take advantage of all the new changes. It's not required though.

3) Install
=

- do a fresh install of Shift 2 and the dlc
- *optional* this is optional but i recomend it to enjoy all the features of the mod - backup your savegame located in "...\documents\SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED" if there is one
- copy all files included in the "Unpacker"folder from "Career Mod.rar" into Shift 2 root directory
- run "unpacker.bat" in order to unpack the game files, wait for the unpacker to finish
- goto your Shift 2 root directory
- completely delete the folders "campaign" and "eventinfo" in S2 root directory
- open the folder "TOCFiles" and delete the file "DirPaks.toc"; go back to S2 root directory

- open the folder "careermod" in the downloaded mod files, copy the complete content (7 folders and the "shift2u.exe") and put that into the S2 root directory - allow all files to overwrite

- start the game, skip the autolog-login process (you should do that every time you start the modded game)

- start the career and have fun

=
4) Known Bugs
=

- as of now the event counters in the career menu won't work for some events
- if the last lap warning sign will appear during "the qualifying sessions" the lap that you're currently doing will not count towards your grid position.
- compatibility with the english and german versions

Yes I've got the same thing, if you ALT+TAB out and back in it fixes it. This only works for a while before the game locks up/blue screens my computer. Are you using the steam version?

I have the same thing, with retail version, playing on GTX560Ti.

I just alt-tab and it is fixed, and I never had bluescreen, but rarely it does crash. It is annoying, but not gamebreaking.

I too get the same problem with Alt+Tab solving the problem but again NO BSOD, I do get occasional CTD, more since the latest patch + DLC. I also get a lot of the 'dark cockpit' issue which again is solved by Alt+Tab. Running a GTX580 with latest drivers.

Just as a bit of an update, I downloaded the game again on Steam and it now seems to work fine, was playing it for several hours last night with no issues. Might be worth a try if anyone is getting the crashing I had.

I've got the DVD version but since changing the graphics config file to:

</class>
<data class="GraphicConfigData" id="0xEAD080">
<prop name="Name" data="" />
<prop name="Mode" adapter="0" width="1920" height="1200" antialias="0" refresh="60" />
<prop name="Vsync" vsync="0" />
<prop name="AntiAlias" antialias="0" />
<prop name="Windowed" windowed="0" />
<prop name="TextureFilter" texturefilter="5" />
<prop name="TextureResolution" textureresolution="5" />
<prop name="Brightness" brightness="10" />
<prop name="CarDetailLevel" cardetaillevel="5" />
<prop name="TrackDetailLevel" trackdetaillevel="5" />
<prop name="ShadowDetailLevel" shadowdetaillevel="5" />
<prop name="MotionblurLevel" motionblurLevel="5" />
<prop name="EffectsDetailLevel" effectsdetaillevel="5" />
<prop name="EnvmapDetailLevel" envmapdetaillevel="3" />
</data>
</Reflection>

I've had the rare CTD, AA & VSync is now controlled by NVi & was playing the career Mod (with laps around 6/7) & played for a solid 2 hours without any issues (apart from dark ****pit).

Does anyone still have AA problems with this game? I have the retail version with a gtx560ti. Have tried nvidia inspector and set it to 16 and it looks awefull, tried 32 and the game crashes. The shadows look the worst

Kinda annoying
