Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

What I've found is that people are using 360 pads and they put the analogue stick to full right/left which will cause the car to lose traction as it is too fast to be turning the wheel.

With a wheel you have a lot more control over the wheel - amusingly enough - but people condemn the game based on that. I bet some people are using the outside cam too which is a cardinal sin in my opinion. :p

And paradisiac the game will run a lot better with a wheel but it's a shame some people have to shell out but once you have a DFGT\G25\G27, they'll last a very long time and get you through a lot of games.

Edit - AHH it's the same all over again, people with pads say it's crap, people with wheels say it's amazing. :D

Completely Agree Fella ;)

its on a 42" screen @ 1920x1080, is that big enough :D
hopefully when i finally get a day off (not til next sat now :() i will play with the settings and see if i can make the controller respond better. i did have a good bash at it last night without any setting changes and got to grips with it, it just felt like i had to brake a lot earlier than everyone else to make a corner as i couldnt get it to turn in right. this might be the sensitivity of the analogue sticks maybe?

Yeah thats big enough, I only got a 40" @ 1920x1080. But I am sat with my nose almost touching the screen as I use a Wheel Stand Pro with my G25. I can imagine its much harder if you are sat further away with a pad. ;)

i am sorry if i came accross as moaning because it felt wrong on a gamepad, but its all i have access to. overall, once you sit down and actually play the game, you do get used to the controller and it does start to feel more natural.
unfortunatly i dont have the room at the moment for a wheel :( but i do understand in theory it should feel better with one, but as a whole was this not developed as a console game, and i would say 95% of console gamers will be limited to controllers aslo, so it would have made sence for the devs to of focussed on a decent set of settings to compensate for this.

i sit about half a meter away :( i had a cheap wheel when i got DiRt2 and hated it, i got on a lot better with the 360 controller, i dont know if this was down to the wheel, or if the game had been setup a lot better to accomidate controllers, i just didnt like it. and yes, i do drive, so i know how to use gears and a steering wheel :p

DFGT is PS3 compatible which is what I have.

Not sure if G25\27 are 360/PS3 compatible.

There are wheels for console users though.

so what are peoples autolog names :P what u dont have one yet naughty naughty.

hopefully my game comes in todays post :D , been playing it at a mates for a few hours like everyone else in this thread...

yes there are, im not disputing that, i am just saying, most people buy a console as they are small and easy to use. and 95% (maybe this is too high a figure) will use the consoles controllers for their games as they are small and cheap, plus they will work for every game.
i know die hard racers will by wheels for whatever platform they game on, but for most people there just isnt the space for one, and a lot of people dont want to have to sit down and setup their hardware for every game, hence why they get a console.
im not saying its right, im just saying what i think.

Hehe, I wan't trying to offend bud, I did say "if" you are sitting further away. I kind of assumed most people with pads tend to sit further away on a sofa etc. Not always the case though as In the early days of the 360 I used to sit on my chair a the same distance I do now but with a pad.

I is a real shame you can't test out a wheel somewhere, and see what you think.

I understand and it usually is the case but if people want the most from their games (like myself) the best way to do that is get the peripherals. :D

But it will get sullied due to that but never mind. At least it will be appreciated by a minority of wheel users. :p

I like this, surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, everyone hush hush, LOL

Needless to say I wasn't expecting to have the game so early but couldn't help myself. I thought "If its crap I will cancel my pre-order"

Needless to say I have not canceled it and I'm looking forward to playing with the Autolog at the weekend if I get time! :D

i think if you head over to the NFS:shift 2 forums there are issues with autolog accross all platforms at the moment, im sure this will be sorted when the game officially comes out tomorrow.
my gaming rig is not connected to the internet though, so i guess i will miss out on a lot of the features?

I didn't think you could even connect to autolog yet in the UK. Certainly not legitimately. I just cancel log in and play. Trying not to advance too far in career mode as I think I will start again when the game arrives! ;)

not sure, i dont have internet on that pc, i just saw it on the forums when seeing if there was any way i can make the experience better with a controller.
what exactly does autolog do, i kinda switch off listening when that american guy starts talking. is it worth my putting up with AV software slowing my pc down to have this feature?

I really don't know if it slows anything down, I shouldn't think so. It is basically a feature that calculates how you are driving and turns it into a score which you can then challenge friends with. Sure there is more to it than that as I have never used it, only read about it.

sorry, i meant installing antivirus software. i dont have the net on my gaming rig as i dont really want any antivirus stuff on it. and it has all my files/photos/vids/music etc on, so dont really want to risk a virus. so if the autolog feature isnt that great then wont bother. most of the time i download the patches on my laptop then move them over to the pc to install, i find its safer, and i never play online as i aint that good, and with 2 little boys i find im forever getting distracted.

Oh I see, I use Microsoft Security Essentials which is free AV software, have no issues with any kind of slow down, as long as it isn't scanning.

I used to use the likes of AVG then Avast but find the Security Essentials much better so far.

Edit - LeJosh beat me to it!! Note to self, Must type faster!

Just use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's really good for a free AV.

i have that on my laptop, and we recommend it to customers, but i must have atleast 15-20 computers in the queue that are full of viruses and use this, aswell as avg, norton, mcafee etc. so it makes me warey of connecting my main pc to the net. we have 2 laptops at home so i really dont need the net on the pc, but if im going to miss out on a lot of SP features by not having the net then i might have to brave it.
MP isnt for me, i like to do things at my own pace and pause it when i want to for aslong as i want.
