Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

It's utter, utter garbage.

Default G27 settings are unplayable. Car steers from the centre. Helmet cam makes everything even worse. Can't change wheel settings during a race, so you have to quit race, change settings and then reload race. The mind boggles as to who thought that was a good idea.

Why do the default G27 setting assume you aren't using the pedals that come with the wheel?

Or in other words, all the crap from the first game has been carried over into this one.

Graphics look nice in game but the in game videos are awful low res rubbish, yet the fat racing driver who talks to you is in HD.

Menus are a pain to navigate. And why can some of the menu navigation be done with the G27 D pad and buttons but some actions require me to use the keyboard?

I agree the default wheel settings are nothing but a steaming pile of turd. No idea why they leave the game in this state. Once you dig around and find the right settings its much better. The fact is though you have to fanny around for 30 mins trying to get the best settings.

I have something that quite good now and im enjoying it much more. Just look above for my inital impressions and then see my thoughts when i got the right settings

My autolog is stoke1863 whats yours?

I have never found a game so frustrating to drive as this, braking and cornering is the easy part it is driving on the straights that's the hard part the cars feel like they turn into rear wheel steer and start weaving all over the track.

And dont get me started on the AI.

Gets a 2/10 from me and that's only because of the visuals.

This was posted over at NoGrip. Settings to try with a DFGT, G25 or G27:

A few have replied saying it improved the feel of the steering for them.

And apparently :

" Difficulty settings: easy is hard, and hard is easy "
" Do a quick race on hard, you´ll get first place after second corner. Now do easy, and have fun "

Still in 2 minds whether to buy it now or wait a few weeks...

The more i play the better it gets. I will repeat the game is total junk until you get better wheel settings.

Had an absolute blast with the retro japanese time trials events. Much more fun than i remember having in FM3. But then to be fair when i go and race my M3 i brought it feels kinda meh and heavy.

Anyone else got autolog? I have arknor so far and thats it.

Mine is stoke1863

I spent about an hour playing with the settings for my G25 and got nowhere, i set tons of steering wheel deadzone and still the car wanders around on the straights, its like the game is steering for you and it feels like forklift steering.

Was going to get this, but not sure whether to or not now. May just get Shogun instead. I was really looking forward to it, but seeing as Im using a wheel and drifting is pretty much all I do I may wait for it to come down in price first.

Looks good as well :(

i hope that you are not testing the settings with the green lotus that you get to race.. That cars handling feels bugged to the rest of the cars ive tried

Ive been testing with my Audi S3 and 911 RS, anyway after another hour of playing with settings ive finally got it to fell pretty good, the wandering is pretty much gone. it seems this game doesnt like spring and damper in the logitech settings being at 0%.

Hell even the green Lotus drives straight now.

ye i've read about the spring and damper on no grip forums.. someone said that the devs wanted that to be "on" mine is on 30%.. what do you use?

I just tried this out and from my experience that is incorrect and the only difference between easy and hard is that on easy the AI dont crash into you as much, but there overall laptimes and speed is the same.

same here i have noticed this too.. and im playing on easy even tho i normally play medium/high :/ AI just loves to pit you or stay in the racing line even if you are going by the side.. one thing i really don't like

okay installed and just done the start of the career, autolog name seemed to log me into my old NFS tag of 'Bupa' (BF medic ;p )so I'll add Arknor nad Stoke in a few mins..

**edit** seems I need to restart career and re-select name **
