^ Need for Speed Shift ^

Guys i played this on release for a whole day at my mates.

I love my rfactor and forza but i thought this was plain horrible to use when you get in cars that are higher performance. Cars felt like ice and the steering was not tight enough.

Now im seeing there is some decent mods out. If i get this game at the weekend what mods should i use to make it close to rfactor or GTR2?

Also can play online with the mods?

I personally don't use any mods, I have my G25 setup and play the game 'stock' with no assists and its fantastic. Granted when I play rFactor its a totally different kettle of fish but for me, it doesnt have to feel 100% real to be fun but each to their own ;p

the patch might change some driving dynamics but probably not enough for it to fair next to rFactor of LFS ... hopefully they continue to support it and future releases of car's and tracks wont hurt :)

NFS Shift really comes into its own with a G25 wheel set or similar as it gives you a much greater sense of control. I have tried a controller but it just felt alien to driving and I was pants, I'm told theres a different learning curve using a console controller so with time it gets easier but I have to agree with LeJosh 'Racing games should be played with a wheel any way! :p''

If you head over to http://www.virtualr.net/category/need-for-speed-shift/ there are some addons purely for steering and tire tweaking..

it's a great game if you spend time with it, graphically it still holds it own amongst the plethora of racing games out there but the handling seemed to be a 'marmite' situation.

Dunker's video's are superb and show how realistic the gfx and playability are portrayed, so I'd advise having a watch and if you like racing games that require some practice it's worth grabbing on the cheap.
