The timer issue is fixed with the latest patch 1.2 btw. For the same reason as you I avoided the 1.1 patch.

Into the 49's at last.
After watching Wedges' vid it showed I was being a little too aggressive on corner entry, resulting in corner exit understeer compromising my speed up the hilly sections.
Also maintaining good line & speed in the first sequence of corners up the hill is paramount to a good lap time. Screw that up & forget about a good lap time.
Practise the start up the hill. Go slow before the Start/Finish line in 4th gear @~5000 rpm so you can place the car where you want it. You don't follow the guide line precisely, keep slightly to the right then turn in easing on the gas. Keep practising adding more speed until you can enter in 5th dropping to 4th as you turn in.
The rest of the track is about being precise. As I've said above, don't be too aggressive (really late braking) entering a corner. You need to hug the apex. There is way more grip on the inside line. Brake a little earlier to get the nose of the car in. DON'T turn & heavy brake at the same time. Slow the car down, off brakes, turn in. You'll be surprised how much traction/speed you can carry through corners with this car OFF the brakes.

Good time danswan. Really hard to get low 50's. I've been trying to improve my time with tuning but just can't get near low 50's consistently. I've reached my limit for this week I think. On with the next.

Don't think we've used the car & the track isn't too dissimilar to this weeks.
For the record, I hate the next car. It's a pig to get to turn in. Think back to the round we had with the RS4 @ Tokyo something or other.

Patch 1.2 gives five new cars in case you weren't aware. No tracks though. It also fixes the timer bug present in the previous patch.

If it helps at all the only thing I changed was downforce (11 front, 13 back) and gears - I moved the final drive gear ratio to 6.35. I also found that although it's unforgiving when you try to cut most corners, it's possible to cut the left turn after the second split time quite heavily..

If you're happy with the handling of your car, which by your times suggest you are, just try the sway bar settings I've posted. You should get more traction without upsetting the balance/handling. Also the Brake Duct Opening setting will improve your brakes on lap 2 onwards.
I've played with the gearing quite a bit, I feel I've settled on the right setup considering the amount of gear changes required on this track.

- NOS capable cars with Works Conversion option fitted REMOVES NOS. To remove NOS just add 'Works Converted' at the end of your car selection.

I've done a couple of races @ tier 3 & none at all @ Tier 4 & I've got access to all cars & upgrades. As danswan says, you soon start levelling up (Rank & Cash) through playing Quick Race - Time Attack here.
Are you on PC? If so, download a 100% save game. It is possible to have two (or more) saves so you can keep your original save & use the other for this comp if you like.
