Netflix here we go again.

People seemed to be quite OK with mugging off Netflix and sharing their account details with all and sundry, I know not everybody did. Then complaining that they are being mugged off having to pay a higher price for their access when the company quite rightly made that harder.

There has always been a disparity in the cost of stuff between the better off western nations and parts of Africa, Asia and South America where wages are lower, a few dollars a day.

So Mr Western guy buys himself a VPN logs on as Abdul from Turkey and pays the due local rate. Saving himself ten or fifteen quid a month. Well done stick it to the man.

there is some changing of history there.

Netflix themselves green lit people sharing passwords so you now saying that those who did were infact being somehow dishonest just because Netflix themselves changed their minds is poor form imo.

Netflix bought on the rampant password sharing on themselves by saying it was ok.

Can you pay for 61 months in advance? I thought it just added credit to your Netflix account and estimated time remaining based on the current price. If the price goes up because the Turkish Lira dropped in value then the time remaining would go down. I believe prices are going up soon to 200 TL per month for the 4K package. Also if they crack down on people using Turkish accounts then you'd lose a lot of money.
Sorry wasnt too clear haha, thats how long I've had it seems to hover aroudnt he 4 quid a month mark

Paying in Turkish lira via a VPN and watching in the UK is still illegal.
not really T+Cs |=law

It might get to the point where they ask you for ya passport lmao, wonder if I can get greek/brazil/indian/turkish citizenship status online haha

They literally said please share your password, they wanted more users on there and was easy for them to create numbers and then now they have converted enough % of those users that had brought into the need of having Netflix to fully fledged paying customers.

They certainly weren't mugging off Netflix when they pushed for you to such at the time.

Where are people buying the Turkish Gift cards from?

I've got a virtual turkish card from oldubil. Been working well. I've approx 2000TL in it now and ative subs, Turkish based, for Netflix and Spotify. On the assumption that it wont last forever, buying giftcards for Netflix and Spotify would be nice.

Looks like it's "only" going up to £17.99.

No change to standard I assume? Article is confusing, where's the £7.99 tier coming from? If that's coming from the ad tier, that's in increase of £3, not the £1 stated? On checking the tiers on my account, seems Premium is currently at £17.99, so already updated?

Note the very first definition....

Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

That is exactly what people are doing when they use a VPN to deceptively "pretend" they are a resident of a country with a cheaper Netfix Sub.

Just checked mine... 61 months of netflix ultimate 4k and all the bells and whistles ... £269.09

According to the current Netlflix site the price is £15.99 / month for this package

This would be £975.39

Was well worth fiddling for half an hour to setup lol

£975.39 - £269.09 = £706.30

If a person lied about their country of residence by saying they were in the UK and then went on to defraud the NHS for just over £700, I'm pretty sure most people in this thread defending the use of VPN's would be screaming at the clouds in multiple threads about "the state of it".

I've been with Netflix since 2012, I'm on the Ultra HD plan and I'll be cancelling my subscription with this next round of price increases.

I don't see how they can justify the continuous rate at which they're raising their prices. The UHD plan was £11.99 back in 2020, with an article in Jan 21 on the BBC saying it was increasing to £13.99.

That's way ahead of the incredible inflation rates. According to BoE that £12 service should cost £14.57 not £17.99.

They'll keep rising prices because the gain in income is massive, the benefit for them far outstrips any volume risk. They can lose 11% of subscribers on the top plan and their income will remain flat, but their margins will be improved meaning they'll still make more profit.

Getting beyond ridiculous now. I remember a bunch of us once saw streaming services as a bit of a beacon of hope for home media and a genuinely inexpensive alterative to TV packages. Now if you want to have access to a few football games and a couple of streaming services, you may as well be paying for a Sky or Virgin package. Sailing the seven seas is becoming a more tempting prospect then ever these days.

Well you don't have your full real name on OCUK for your personal gain, you're a fraudster and I feel deceived!

Forward that on to our government while your at it. They're the first in line for that definition.

The Turkey prices have gradually been going up too. It used to be under 100 TL for premium. I think originally most people were getting it for 93 TL. It's now gone up to 199.99 TL.
It's more than doubled but 200TL is still £5.89. People will keep paying Turkey prices whilst it's 3 times cheaper than the UK.

Women. Its bloody women. They love em.

This is so true. My Mrs watches them all!

True that, my ex watched them all the time. Then wondered why she had nightmares

100% correct. My sister in law and my mother in law would sit all day watching killer type documentaries.

So it turns out all our partners endlessly absorb murder content. Mine likes to fall asleep listening to it as well...

I now hold some level of relief that it's not just my wife that consumes the same type of shows!
Maybe it's why I don't sleep so well wondering if one night I won't wake up after I've annoyed her. ;)

So I have the premium login for my own house for £16, and then two family members that are in another household have one each, i.e. £5 each so total £26

Anyone know if they can share a login because they're in the same house, but using different TVs?
