They can justify it as long as subscriber numbers are going up.I've been with Netflix since 2012, I'm on the Ultra HD plan and I'll be cancelling my subscription with this next round of price increases.
I don't see how they can justify the continuous rate at which they're raising their prices. The UHD plan was £11.99 back in 2020, with an article in Jan 21 on the BBC saying it was increasing to £13.99.
That's way ahead of the incredible inflation rates. According to BoE that £12 service should cost £14.57 not £17.99.
They'll keep rising prices because the gain in income is massive, the benefit for them far outstrips any volume risk. They can lose 11% of subscribers on the top plan and their income will remain flat, but their margins will be improved meaning they'll still make more profit.
Personally? I think they are on the cusp or just over too high with this next rise.
FYI. We are on the SD tier. 2 screens. Which is ideal as tv is only 1080 anyway
