*NEW* 2015 Dell Inspiron 15 - 7559, i7 6700HQ/GTX960M owners thread

Thanks d_brennen, the weight is something I am torn on.

e6330 is about 2.5kg all in I think and its fine, this will push that a little bit more. I am leaning towards the XPS 15 but thats double the price almost! (looking at Dell Outlet)

I am torn!

I carry this laptop everywhere with me at school. It is heavy, however it is easily manageable. I intend to carry it with me at uni next year and I can't imagine it will be a problem. One thing to watch out for is the size though. I bought a rucksack especially for it and it's still a tight fit, probably just a small bag tho. Power is good and can easily get me through a day (unless gaming!)

Thanks Jamesy, I really am torn now! The price is just too good to pass up.

How are Dell for returns if i get it and decide I don't like it?
Also looking at the dell outlet if their return policy is any different?

Sorry for delay, this doesn't help unfortunately because I can't install Intel HAXM in the first place. Do you have it installed?

No, sorry! HyperV runs perfectly on a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. I am looking at an Android emulation for one of my sites (a school), so it might be something I look into next week

So, I'm finally testing mine out for what a bought it for, gaming in a hotel room whilst I work away. I have afterburner running with +135 on the core & 400 on the mem. It's still not loud which is nice, cooling seems great one these.

Playing the division right now, I used the nvidia optomised settings, latest drivers, then I'm game let it auto detect and then changed the Rez back to 1080p.

Most of the time it's 60fps but drops to 40 at its lowest, which still feels Smoove.

I'm happy so far :)

Hmmm ... just spotted same spec cpu and gfx on another brand, with 120gb ssd, 1tb hdd dvd drive and 16gb mem for less than adding the ram and ssd to one of these .... decisions

Zoostorm brand, not heard of them which is the main concern, model is GT6 i5.
I guess at least Dell have known decent Customer service ...

Edit: just realized the Dell is an i7, the Zoostorm an i5 but same clock speed I believe.

I have just got of the livechat and phone (they phoned me) to Dell.
3x Inspiron 15 7559 delivered in a couple of weeks max for £700 each direct from Dell :)

Plan is to uninstall junk, then install SSD and transfer OS over and format the HDD.
I presume any M.2 SSD will be fine ?

Maybe better to do a fresh install, but I don't know were to get ISO or how it will work with the key as its not on a sticker on the laptop?

I presume adding another 8gb ram wont make a huge difference to performance, so I will stick with the installed 8 for now.

Hey i've been noticing when playing audio through my laptop speakers when it's on a surface like a bed or table i'm getting some sort of echo/crackling sound i think because of the subwoofer? when i lift the laptop so the subwoofer isn't touching anything i don't get this noise, is anyone else having this problem?

So I'm probably being dumb but I've been after one of these laptops for a while but how are people getting them for £700? The starter price seems to be £750 on the dell website going up to £1k if I want SSD and 16GB ram?

Open a chat window and tell them you don't have £750 and but want the laptop :)

There is also a UK site where you can save on laptops where it's sometimes sub £700 for the base model.

It is a bit of a shame the i5 model isn't really available in the UK. While the i7 is a great deal as it is, the option for a £100 cheaper model would be good

Could be something vibrating. I'd take the bottom cover off (1 screw) and see it it persists then reseat the cover

You can use code PREMSALE by the 13th of this month to knock off £50

Any M.2 with a sata interface will be fine :)

Can add 250ish SSD for £50 and ram for about another £28...?

I ended up getting a 512 evo for £110 which is working nice.
