These will be £299 on release etailers will still be selling gt for £200 so makes sense to charge £300 for this.

Maybe there is a shortage of GTs because all the cores are going in the GTS.

Just a thought.
I very much doubt that considering it looks like the GTS launch has been delayed which must be due to production levels (rather than a design issue) and I would have thought if the GTS was a higher priority for nVidia then they wouldnt have allowed a slip, so in my mind it shows they are trying to get more GTs into the marketplace before attempting to roll out the GTS. Remember if the 15th December is correct thats nVidia missing the Christmas rush effectively since OEMs would have already specced their PC and the majority of individuals would have organised for Christmas. The only other reason for the delay would be to fulfill a very large OEM order for Christmas...

If Im right on the point above then market forces should mean the GTs pricing returns back to expected due to plentiful supply before nVidia release the GTS - as I said before I like a lot of people are happy to pay around £200 but as soon as it hits £250 the ATI equilavents then need to be considered.

Surely if nVidia can undercut on price theyll have the market sown up again...

GT's are not in plentifull supply though, so when the new GTS comes out it wont affect their pricing, even the new GTS is in shortage, so thats gona be a high premium price to, GT go up and over £200, the GTS will probably be around £250-£280.

when the price of the 8800GT drops to £130-140 I'll simply purchase another one ...

2 x 8800GT SLi vs 1 x G92.GTS .... no contest ..

rather than pay an extra £50-£100 for the G92.GTS using the EVGA plan, I'd rather pay £130 and get another 8800GT in SLi resulting in performance way above an overpriced G92.GTS ..

pleased I didn't wait for the EVGA SC, who needs the step up plan now ???

who's with me ..

lol

:D:D

Not me.:D

Do you think that when the GT falls to £130-£140 the GTS will remain overpriced? Obviously I have no way of knowing, but common sense tells me that assuming there aren't supply shortages the GTS will come in at a reasonable price level.

Of coarse SLI GT's will beat a GTS.

When the price of the GT does drop to £130 what do you think will happen to the GTS price??

Its costing me £35 to upgrade from my GT to GTS. ;)

Making £280 worth of GT in SLI not so inviting.

basically depends on the final retail of the GTS ..

the GT is still is short supply, so until we see these stocks flood the market we will be seeing an overpriced GTS. Who knows how long we will be in this situation .. esp. as the 9800 release grows ever closer 'hopes'

8800GTS 16.794 - QX6850@4050 Mhz - ~766/2000/1030

8800GT 16.719 - Q6600@4005 Mhz - ~799/2052/1080

8800GT 17.008 - Q6600@4080 Mhz - ~802/2052/1026

Now that's a good score, better than the Ultra @ 720/2400 on the same link. But its not that great. Look at the GT in my sig, a little quicker 34Mhz on the core, 50MHz on the shader, similar score. I'm assuming that's clocks from an unmodified card and mine clocks very well with lots of fiddling with the bios, heatsinks etc. So not a typical example, but still, I was expecting a bigger gap.
