New build need help

@Journey, offers this a lot - even to unknown members - generous considering his job commitments and relatively brave considering the ratio of f'wits to norms in today's society. Is he aware that you're a high functioning sociopath with a penchant for spanking visitors backsides as a formal greeting? :D
well as long as i don't go over and murder @Journey i suspect he'll be fine :P

even my daughter said "oh no - not Tammy!" Yep, that's how she pronounces your name.
lol :D

When i scroll or go into programs on taskbar get like a buzzing noise coming from PSU. Have took a video of it https://vimeo.com/352166491
@Kevin Matthews - it's not often we reach this stage but we have.

Take your PC (all of it), place it in an unmarked case, letting some loose wires hang out, and then leave it lying around in a public place and then let bomb disposal take care of the rest. You'll be doing your mental health a favour in the long term.

Or, we list its faults and resist smacking it repeatedly with a hammer while we do:
  • Occasional BSODs
  • GPU coil whine (one of its many foibles not systematic of instability)
  • Ambiguous Driver/BIOS conflicts (we need another update from one of them)
  • PSU has joined in the fun - odd buzzing sound, possibly coil whine, signal interference or other
  • It's developed sadistic AI - and is mocking us.
  • Add ones i may have forgotten
Is your mouse hardlined into the system (not wireless) and is it only in Programs/taskbar that it does it? Are you sure it doesn't do it within Chrome or games and you just can't hear it. Also, are you 100% sure it's the PSU and not the GPU - you can use a cardboard tube to help isolate the noise if unsure.

Additional, what have you tried since you last posted:
  • Any memtest results?
  • Did you run at 2993MHz and experience stability issues still
  • Something else i forgot?

Does it in chrome and taskbar. Memtest was all passed okay, running at 2993 all okay so far haven't gamed with it as work nights all week. Definitely sounds like coming from psu and not gpu. Sounds static.

Only noticed this after updating to the latest bios, maybe should roll back to previous one to see if it still does it maybe.

Unfortunately, we need a couple of good gaming sessions under your belt to see if the drop in memory speed has helped.

I would wait for the next BIOS update, rather than rolling back - we're in search of stability we'll ignore irritating noises for now (if you can live with that).

What mouse are you using?

Yeah ill wait, and the mouse and keyboard bundle that was suggested was out of stock at the time so just amazon finest rgb lol will order new one next week.

Yeah noises i can live with, just maybe invest pair headphones. Just strange that makes it while scrolling and hovering on taskbar programs and chrome.. Never had it with previous bios. So bit clueless.

Possibly - but the way his luck is going he could be suffering from electrical interference too (wouldn't even rule out demonic possession.).

What USB ports are you using?

Just the ports at back of the case but have tried them all.. No different, i went and bought a normal kettle plug as the psu never came with one for UK

Last night i gamed temp was rising to near 88c and fans going ninety with a real bad coil whine.

Today did bit research, changed PCEI to Gen 3 in bios as seen on reddit. Also i enable frame rate target control to about 140 FPS. Ran game for 15mins temps didn't move once and also very little coil whine.

GPU Util only 5% instead of 99%

Nice - use and abuse for next few days - bump up memory when you've done a few hours testing with zero issues.

Have you tried any other games apart from that poorly optimised piece of ....? :D

I will indeed, no none at all. Well football manager haha.. You recommend any decent goos optimization games lol

What have you got - do you have any fast paced FPS games e.g. BF1/BFV, DOOM, Farcry etc..?

*I love the the fact you've built a very capable spec, battled to get it stable and you're now predominantly playing, Stranded Deep and Football manager.

/off topic

Did you get to test your motherboard @tamzzy?

all working now. thankfully nothing needed to RMA.
and omg. CSL is so smooth. even with 500k pop lol
Yay - great stuff! And before your timeline... :)

You gotta love computers and their ****ing annoying foibles:

In some cases it's as though they needed time to think and adjust to the fact they're a f'ing computer :/
new PC realises it's role in life and then suddenly the component will work. Why? **** knows.

You realise you've built yourself a truculent child :D
