New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

Originally it was excessive light bleed in the bottom left which makes any dark images in that corner invisible, I also have a bright pixel which falls under their premium panel guarantee so I should be given a new monitor. Considering I called exactly 1 week after receiving the monitor for a replacement and I am almost at the 2 week mark since my initial call I am getting furious. I am still waiting for approval even though my issue clearly falls under their warranty guidelines.

For clarity sakes, and less ambiguity, the focus of your need for a replacement only needed to centre on the bright pixel due to their next day replacement guarantee for such a situation. It is within their own warranty guarantee, as you know.

Going back to my issue I really did need to work a little at the beginning to prevent the agent from becoming too focussed on testing new cables and alternative computers to connect the monitor to, that was potentially a rabbit hole of side issues that would only detract from the monitor being dead. There was plenty that I purposely omitted. It got to the point of simply noting that the monitor with no cables attached, apart from the power cable, would not post or show any window message at all.
For you it is a matter of a single bright pixel and as such the monitor needs to be replaced, not much to do with the bleed.

I was lucky as I managed to get through to a very helpful agent, I got her full name and she gave me her own personal work email address. That came my single point of contact, can be difficult ringing them as there are so many options to go through.

Good luck with your return, hopefully you can get some movement on that. Dell are usually excellent in dealing with returns etc, in my experience.

In a sense I knew that a replacement meant going back into the panel lottery gamble, as to what would turn up. Thankfully the new one seems fine and has less bleed / glow than the previous one. It is all about compromise with a monitor.
It is the only piece of hardware that I do not look forward to buying....!

Thanks I'm glad you got yours resolved quickly and got onto someone helpful.

Originally I wanted it replaced under backlight bleed due to the bottom right corner being washed out in darker images. That was Friday 9th October. After some back and forth the following week they didn't want to replace it and it was the following Friday, the 16th of October that I started to deal with a manager and I noticed the bright pixel and thought "jackpot now they can't deny a warranty". In fairness to the manager he has been polite and understanding and has emailed me updates but said he approves the warranty and then it goes to the replacement department who then have to accept it and they are the ones who have yet to accept the claim even though they have pictures etc. It just seems to be dragging on and under Irish consumer protection since the monitor is so new I shouldn't have to provide info regarding the defect as it is to be assumed the defect was there since manufacture.

I wouldn't mind having to wait a week or so for the replacement as long as I know it's been approved and on the way. Right now I'm in limbo trying to fight for a replacement and I couldn't turn around and say "take the monitor back and I'll just reorder" due to the long delivery times.

I hate buying monitors haha.

Unintentionally I think with you mentioning the BLB as the initial cause of your dissatisfaction that has clouded the whole return issue. The full week until the bright pixel was noted just allowed that to perpetuate, not having a go but just noting that once they seem to get a focus of an issue it can be difficult to change that, as you are finding.

Even tho I mentioned that my new monitor has better BLB and IPS Glow than the previous I would not want to watch a movie on it. Going back a while I remember when I bought a 34" VA panel Samsung, watching the film "Gravity" made me realise that whilst a VA panel might not have Glow it can and does have bleed....!!! Once seen you can then not "unsee".

good luck

Thanks and I don't take offense at all, I completely get that it has clouded the whole experience and does not help my case. The manager dealing with my case seems quite nice and has provided email updates even if it's just "nothing has happened as of yet" which I do appreciate on his side, just annoying how it can take so long with no resolution. I sent an email last night expressing my dissatisfaction towards the delay in response so we'll see what happens today. I just hate being in limbo and want it resolved considering it's so new, if the issue developed over time I wouldn't be as pushy but since I only just bought it, I want it resolved so I'm not wasting time trying to get it sorted.

Is VA bad as well? I was considering just returning this monitor and go with a VA alternative but with your comment I reckon I better just stick it out and get this replaced. The only videos I watch on my monitor is youtube videos as I have a decent tv that I watch everything on.

The VA monitor that I had was a Samsung LC34F791WQUXEN a 34" UW. Just in the context of a VA panel, not about the poor build quality, the bottom left and right still had bleed issues. The black crush was not good, where large areas of very dark content would be lost in detail. I also did not like at all the text settings that I would get due to the sharpening used, made more difficult when using custom modes as it disabled the sharpening control. Smearing and colour accuracy display issues were not great.
Overall it wasn't "bad" but at round £750 you adjust your expectations to what you pay, and in that respect it was not good and so refunded
Coming from a decent(ish) IPS screen at the time probably didn't help.
At the end of the day so much of what you buy with a monitor is down to a panel lottery but also it is a visual experience. You do not get to see that online.
All the panel types seem to have limitations, you just go with the one that you feel suits your primary needs.
Same point tho in the end " I do not like buying a new monitor".

@neobenedict it looks like we ordered around the same time, early October, mine is due 4th or 5th November.

I'm really looking forward to it, but bracing for the worst. I do agree with posters in this thread, its the only piece of tech I hate buying (furniture is the other when it gets mangled during transit).

Since posting the above, now read some earlier posts - I don't think it will be the 5th...

Mine was delayed to December (ordered early oct) also but CS told me should be delivered by 6/11 so I'll hold them to that.

cs told me today that the manufacturer has put a hold on production and they don’t know if they will be able to fulfil my order at all. Ordered beginning of Oct. they said they will follow up with me tomorrow. So we will see.

I have been checking daily for this panel from Dell, I got told by live chat they're coming soon?

Production being paused doesn't fill me with confidence, but I guess this could be due to Golden week in China?

Hmmm,

My order status is still saying confirmed, but I notice the next stage in the timeline infographic is "In production" which it hasn't yet moved to.
I'm 99% sure there was no "In production" stage when I checked last time....

Still showing an ETA of the 23/11

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today when I looked at my order! Seems they’ve added a new stage on us! :)

I’ll be interested on what CS says to Nilithym tomorrow on the possibility of not even being able to fulfil the order.

Good to know I've not gone entirely senile yet then. Sneaky Dell is Sneaky!

Ditto @Nilithym - production paused sounds petty ominous - please do update us on what you uncover.

FWIW, I bought a laptop in September that had “in production” stage. It said when I ordered it’d be delivered in 3-4 working days but on the my order tab it had a delivery date 3 weeks later and it arrived at that time despite them sending me two emails saying there was a further delay by a week after it was on its way to their European sorting warehouse.

ive been keeping an eye on that page as I ordered it as soon as my laptop arrived as it added the points for the discount vouchers, it’s basically been on confirm order since then with no change on the shipping date 18/11.

I’m not 100% sure when they changed it to temp out of stock though but from what ive read there seems to be a lot of people ordering them.

Throwing my two pennies in; I ordered on the 14th October, had it confirmed on the 17th and now I see that it is 'about to enter production' with an estimated shipping date of the 20th November. I am looking forward to the screen arriving and I am content to wait for it, I still use a little 20" 16:10 Samsung screen from 2009. :(
