New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

I got mine today. What an awesome monitor, the colours just pop. The motion is almost as good as my S2716DGF TN I got another arriving from Germany on Tuesday.

Ordered mine yesterday from Mr Lewis, got it today, collected from my local. First impressions, the motion and response time is top notch.

Still loving my DELL S2721DGF, what overdrive settings is everyone using, I'm asking as Hardware Unboxed says to use extreme and rtings said they had bad experience using the extreme,

Would be good to hear everyone's views please.

Same. Using the Hardware Unboxed suggestion

Okay well I've found out why. According to HUB by turning off adaptive sync (freesync and gsync) in extreme mode you'll always get worse results, so use the other modes. It wasn't stated in the video but they corrected themselves in the comments by saying that.

So I am okay to turn mine to extreme mode it would seem lol. Sometimes I like reddit.

I think it's only on with HDR. The HDR on this is crap (as is the local dimming) so I wouldn't bother with it.
I just played doom eternal with HDR on and I was blown away. Super bright sections felt like a real light in my face while darker areas looked fine.

I now see what HDR is about!

LOL - just got a customer satisfaction and product review survey from Dell for the monitor that is now 5 weeks after the initial order , 3 weeks after the delayed delivery date and a week after the promised delivery time given to me on my initial CS call and still NOT delivered. Needless to say it was not a glowing review

Just had a look at the Dell website and they now have it for £324 but still temporarily out of stock

^^^^ Welcome to the Covid world of manufacturer / retailers when trying to deal with certain hardware manufacturing and supply issues.
Could be worse, you could be in the Ampere queue....!

it’s always been £389, no?

I’ve not seen it any lower anyway.

I'm a little worried about stock, can you tell? :D

:D

In this rather surreal world we now live in Nvidia's supply issues could work in AMD's favour. You could now leave one queue and join another.
At least it might just balance out those two humongous 30x0 threads.
If you do such a jump, and not be able to grab what will probably turn out to be one of a handful of cards, then OC will still bank your money ;)
Might not be so bad for Zen3, the price is something not much raved about.

you're right - I just noticed they've given me the £324 price ex vat since the website has given me the business price. I'm assuming that's because I also have a corporate account as well (which I am in the process of cancelling )

I believe both AMD and Nvidia are using TSMC for their silicon, so the queue may be the same regardless of if you go green or red...

IIRC I think that Ampere is using Samsung's 8nm chips. As noted there seems to have been a rumour about a refresh using TSMC's 7nm chips. That would upset the handful of buyers who have managed to buy an Ampere card, so not great loss there :D

I've been trying to order a pair of these S2721DGF this morning as my Samsung LC27HG70QQUXEN is about to fail. As they out of stock I reached out to Dell Sales and was given an ETA of 4th Jan. Do these share the same panel as the LG 27GL850-B as these are my 2nd choice and have a ETA of the 27th?

Ah, though I paid more than I should have!

This entire process of ordering from them has been painful - first world problems. I spoke with CS today regarding mine as it's been 'shipped' and in my city for a few days (if not a week) now and they basically said it's due for delivery on the 18th of November. That was it. Couldn't get any further.

Edited after being unsure what's going on.

I've not yet received mine - supposedly due in two days, but it's still 'In production'

Good luck with that :D
