New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

IIRC I think that Ampere is using Samsung's 8nm chips. As noted there seems to have been a rumour about a refresh using TSMC's 7nm chips. That would upset the handful of buyers who have managed to buy an Ampere card, so not great loss there :D

Early adopters always get shafted one way or another

Usually on price!

As much as I am happy that mine already arrived.
I still follow this thread and I can't belive how bad its been for some of you. Dell needs to get a grip..

btw.. i checked the manufacturing date on mine.. it says SEPTEMBER 2020 !! :O

For me, after being told 'tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow' finally they've decided to say that the factory doesn't have the parts and they don't know when they will, so don't hold out any hope of even getting it by the revised date. Also that it's the factory's fault, not theirs

I ordered 4th Oct

Dell must have some fairly troubling internal logistics; I placed an order on the 14th, it was in production by the 23rd and delivered from the EU to my door by the 28th.
I am sorry to hear that some of you are having immense troubles in securing the monitor.

I was looking at getting this monitor for exclusively just gaming, but then realised I can't even get hold of one till the new year

So been looking around and this monitor looks pretty impressive, maybe better even for gaming? Lonovo Legion Y27gq-25 Monitor I know it's a TN panel, but I find motion on TN actually better than ips, just they have crap viewing angles and not as much pop in colour.

What do you guys think? Hang on for the Dell? Or get the lenovo Y27gq-25 Monitor?

Personally I’d hang on, if you can live with LGs ugly stand get that when it’s back in stock.

That's what really annoys me about Dell is that that it seems that there's a certain ordering period during which no-one has received their item even though people that ordered afterwards have. Rather than sorting the issue even though they have probably had multiple calls about it (I've made 2 myself) they seem to be blindly ignoring the issue.

With regards myself I've already closed the corporate account I had with them - and will probably cease any dealings with them if (for me it's now IF rather than when) the monitor arrives.

I know right :p ...I've been watching this thread a while and in the end just ordered the LG, got it the next day, very happy, no issues at all with it and I've been happily using it for 2 weeks, yea I did pay a lot more for it at £430 but at least I have it. Also, I wanted the option of SVGA mode it offers that the Dell does not.

i think Dell could change a couple of things with a firmware update.. we will see ...
I am happy with mine.. for the price its brilliant..
only thing that I would be more happy is if it would have HDMI 2.1
144Hz over HDMI is fine .. but with the new consoles I do not think that it will work with adaptive sync without HDMI 2.1

Hmm, I am loving this monitor beside one problem. It is giving me headaches. Which is odd as I am used to high refresh rate monitors everyday. I have noticed a few people on Reddit complaining of the same with the LG version. Anyone else having the same issue?

A00 September 2020. Ordered 30 October and received the 31 October 2020.

EDIT: I just notice the brightness could go up more so I am going to give that a go and see how I get on.

Looks like this monitor is good for gaming but apart from that what's it like for web browsing and watching movies ?

.

It's a very good all-rounder, but with an obvious slant on gaming. The rtings review is a pretty good guide. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721dgf

Might explain why theres no stock left/production backlog, the price is right and the spec is very good. It' probably selling like hot cakes, but I guess there's no way to really tell.

My only slight complaint is dark colour banding in dark scenes in films, but from what I read thats jst a thing with this type of pannel.

Thanks for info.

For anybody still looking to order this in the UK, although the main Dell site still wont let you order it, there is a link on the Dell-Deals site which lets you add it to your basket
Code:
https://deals.dell.com/en-uk/productdetail/5tt0

.

at £389.95 but if you use the code DELLMONER11 it reduces price to £350.95. Delivery estimated as 6th January. I haven't actually ordered it but everything looks fine in the basket.
