New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

Hmm, I am loving this monitor beside one problem. It is giving me headaches
No problems here mate.. its great..

Looks like this monitor is good for gaming but apart from that what's it like for web browsing and watching movies ?.
its fine for me.. I am coming from Dell U2515H and the quality is very similar just with 2" larger and with high refresh.
it has its flaws as stated in many reviews.. but i think overall its a great monitor.

Wow they have over 87 in stock. Is there something up with these monitors that I don't know about? How can they have that many refurbs? I ordered a few days ago from dell with a delivery date of 5th January 2021 :(. Got it for £331 after NHS discount code. Perhaps I should cancel and get a refurb instead.

Apparently nothing wrong with them at all, just sealed returns generally.

Think I might be cancelling my order and getting one of those. Save myself £50 and actually get the bloody thing!

Mines came with a cluster of scratches on screen, others have been fine though. Non original packaging/stand attached - points to returns not cancellations. Still worth a punt. They contacted me today to say that they couldn't see the scratch on the monitor screen which l returned - but refunded all the same. The fact they couldn't see the scratches concerns me as if you look at my previous posts they are clear to see in a particular light.

Ah ok, thanks. That is concerning, and also coming with a non-original stand attached! That would be a problem!

Yeah I remember seeing your photos previously, it's scratched alright. I hadn't realised you'd bought it from them, thought it was from Dell

No it was an original Dell stand but it was pre attached to monitor - you usually have to construct stand yourself. Don't let my experience put you off - others on here have had good experiences and returns was grand. Trustpilot reviews are excellent too. God knows when you will be able to get this of Dell. I just have went with a different monitor at min, but still have an order in with Dell del due Jan.

I'm interested in purchasing this monitor, I currently have a LG 27UD88-W which is used for work, I need colours to be fairly accurate (doesn't need to be 100% but if a blue looks completely different at the top of the screen compared to the bottom it could be difficult). I had an UltraSharp previously and loved it.

I think I read that the black levels were inconsistent across this monitor. I know this monitor will be great for gaming, but is it also good for work?

What are the best gaming settings for this? I've got it and saw extreme or super fast mode are good, but when I turn it looks weird and goes sharp? Hard to explain. Got a 1080ti.

I too use Superfast with my 1080Ti and, for now, I have limited the FPS to 100. Might need to review that, I'll see.
One day, in the long and distant future, when they have actual stock of Ampere or the AMD equivalent GPU's I might be tempted top change the 1080Ti.

Viva La Pascal.

I am guessing this is the one l sent back, it is listed on its own/marked graded with mark to frame at front next to Dell logo - it has scratches on the screen pictured in previous posts, they can't see/find them apparently.

Looks like someone grabbed it. If they had offered you a partial refund to that price would you have been tempted to keep it..?

Did you buy anything else since returning that one...?

I ordered the LG27GN950 from the Spicy restaurant but couldn't justify it so cancelled. Got an Aorus FI27Q out of desperation from the rainforest light bleed was insane returned, build quality was immense though. Flickering firmware fix is now available for the Samsung G7, one coming today. Still have an order with Dell for this monitor due Jan.

Wow, now you'll understand why of all hardware purchases I can say that I genuinely do dislike buying a new monitor...!

Good luck with the Samsung, curved VA panel - I never liked my Samsung curved VA panel, it had to be returned.

Best of luck also with the inevitable panel lottery game.

I bought 3 G7s, hopefully one is defect free - monitors really are a shambles, QC is awful

Are those the 27" versions...? Post back how you go on and your thoughts about them. I will probably stick with IPS.

There does seem to be a concerted effort by all manufacturers in a race to the bottom, in all aspects of QC relating to monitor manufacturing. Hard to pick a winner there as price is no guarantee of getting a good one.
My £740 Samsung curved VA panel was so mediocre it was difficult to believe that it should have cost so much.
