New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

Mine is still in production... *yawn

So, don’t look like it’s going to be here before my series X turns up... But then maybe the Xbox’s will also end up several weeks late! :) (I really shouldn’t joke on this!)

Mines came with a cluster of scratches on screen, others have been fine though. Non original packaging/stand attached - points to returns not cancellations. Still worth a punt. They contacted me today to say that they couldn't see the scratch on the monitor screen which l returned - but refunded all the same. The fact they couldn't see the scratches concerns me as if you look at my previous posts they are clear to see in a particular light.

Blimey, I just went to order one and they're now OOS... they've sold 80+ in a morning! I need to go into selling monitors!

That's 150+ this company has had inside 2 weeks, don't think its anything unique to Dell - all monitors these days have woeful QC, look at the 4k LG 27GN950 or the Samsung G7, Samsung have only released a fix for the flickering on Monday - 6 months after release.

According to the company, they are not faulty refurbished items...

What is a Dell Certified Refurbished Monitor?

It is an item which has been returned to Dell for a number of reasons but the vast majority come from large cancelled orders from businesses and not returns from individuals. For example, if a company were to order a batch of monitors and on receipt realise they have ordered the wrong model Dell would collect the monitors and as they don’t know if they have been previously opened they are put through the refurbished process as Dell don’t put any returned items back into new sales stock.

What is the Dell refurbishment process?

When they are returned to Dell some boxes may have been opened and some will still be factory sealed, if they are factory sealed they are put directly on pallets and shipped direct to us. This is how the majority of monitors are sent to us.

If the box has been opened so the factory seals have been broken a Dell engineer will firstly unpack the item, it will then go through a stringent quality check and once it has passed these checks it will cleaned and repacked into it’s original box included all it’s original cables. If the original box has been damaged the monitor will be packed in new Dell packaging.

So the monitors are not actually refurbished?

That is correct, if an engineer tests a monitor and it doesn’t pass the quality check they are scrapped and not repaired.
As Dell supply these to us as refurbished we have to advertise them as Dell Certified Refurbished on our website.

Mine has been delayed to the 10th (was due today). Ordered on the 6th October.

I tried the order for the 2721dgfa and if I had continued with the purchase right now, the ETA was the same day as my existing order; the 10th.

Decided to bail from ordering another, as it may be a case that existing orders turn out to be the same batch and a 2721dgfa version?

No idea if there will be any difference between models?

Not sure about ordering this until a bit more info about it is available. Maybe posted on Dells site in error. Can't see any info on it anywhere.

If it is actually available to order, remember that code DELLMONER11 get's you 10% off at the moment

Wow, now you'll understand why of all hardware purchases I can say that I genuinely do dislike buying a new monitor...!

Good luck with the Samsung, curved VA panel - I never liked my Samsung curved VA panel, it had to be returned.

Best of luck also with the inevitable panel lottery game.

First two G7 27 inch I opened had defective pixels, one had a few bottom left other had ones in bottom left and top right.

Third one I can't see any pixel defects at min very minimal bleed - did I finally get lucky I am wondering

Sigh, is that what is needed now. They have really hit bottom where three are needed to be ordered to have the chance of having one working.!
Hopefully you have indeed got lucky with that third and it will be a keeper.

What are your thoughts of the VA, curved panel.?
On the rear does it have a VESA 100 type mount, for an arm.?
On my curved screen Samsung, as the monitor would sag to the left on the flimsy stand, I had to attach an arm to a bracket that stood proud on the rear. It was a strange arrangement.
Eventually it was returned and refunded.

Curve is intense not everyone's cuppa tea, Vesa attachment in packaging, stand included is pretty robust and large, deep desk needed. Definitely enjoying the black on the VA panel. Madness that you have to buy 3 to get a decent one. I literally bought the third on a whim lucky I did, seperate order, it never had Samsung branded sellotape like the other 2.

I did like the blacks a lot on the VA Samsung, some black crush but hey ho you can't have everything. Overall tho an IPS panel best suited my needs. It's all about compromise, we all know about that when trying to buy a monitor...!
What I didn't like about the VA Samsung was the curve (1500r) and also it being a UW panel - just seemed like a very large letterbox. For some it seems to work well, not for me.

Goodness knows how their overall manufacturing and poor QA can make them profitable with the returns that they must get.

When I had the Samsung the backplate fitted...

meh.

Hope that it lasts for you. If it turns out to be a keeper are you cancelling your order for a Dell...?

May as well keep the order with Dell - Jan 4th is estimated time. The whole process must be tiresome for sellers with all the returns these days.
