There is an article on guardian "Shops warn of Christmas stock shortages as PPE shipments clog key UK port", which is about Felixstowe and how "Congestion at Felixstowe is a problem for the whole country as the Suffolk port handles approximately 40% of all the containers coming into and out of the UK.".
So if Dell S2721DGFA is made in Netherlands as someone claimed here in the forums , maybe that's why the delays in getting them to us?
If anyone is looking for alternative models to Dell S2721DGF/A which use the same LM270WQA-SSA1 panel (potentially with varying tweaks), here are the options:
- LG 27GL850 / 27GL850-B (same model, different naming for regions): ~£349 - 400
- ViewSonic ELITE XG270QG: ~£400 and in stock
- HP Omen 27i: £499 - so yes, much more expensive
- Lenovo Y27q-20: ~£450
- Acer Nitro VG272U P: ~£319
All these differ mostly in ergonomics (normal stand vs weird crow-foot stand), black uniformity and few other tweaks. If you look at RTings reviews and check specific things, you'll see all of them have bad contrast ratio and bad black uniformity.
If not Dell S2721DGF/A - and given I cannot stand the crow-foot stands (hehe) - I was looking into HP Omen 27i as I really like the design. But its reviews also say it has not so great contrast ratio: not sure if on the whole or compared to other same-class monitors (755:1 on HP vs ~850:1 for Dell).
At the moment I am testing Samsung Odyssey G7 27" while waiting for the Dell S2721DGF/A to arrive before I decide between the two. If not the curve and crow-foot stand on the G7 - it would be a 100% amazing monitor: 27", 1440p, 240hz, amazing response, VA panel and ~2500:1 contrast ratio + HDR 600! Albeit it is in a different price range: ~£550. I don't notice the curve that much anymore - problem is then when watching a regular TV now - it looks as if bubbled out towards me
