New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

Not sure it is on sale in the UK yet, I couldn't find it. The hardware unboxed recommends it. I'd imagine it'll be in the £400+ range though

The HU review shows the Dell is pretty close to the MSI in most things. The MSI is better overall but I think the £100+ price difference gives Dell the edge for now.

I agree with you yeah - Dell trumps at the price point. But on paper the MSI looking to be better! Hopefully we see some discounts on that in the future.

I would happily buy the MSI if it's available in the UK, as for me 1440p high refresh is the best res to play on, at the moment. So might as well get the best panel for the job.

Speaking of which, how do you all go about calibrating your monitors properly? I watched a video on the whole thing and not really keen on spending £250+ for a proper device to only have to use it once a year...

i've finally talked to someone who is in charge of the monitors at dell.

he told me that the S2721DGFA was introduced because of this EU regulatory which came into effect on nov 1st.

S2721DGF and S2721DGFA are technically the same, only the out of the box power consumption is different and was adjusted in the new firmware.

therefore S2721DGF is not manufactured anymore and got replaced by the S2721DGFA.

Nice to know that the A version is just as good.
Was he able to tell you will some sales reps can get massive discounts while other can't?

Some people are now reporting that none of the regular sales reps are giving a good discount anymore but if you contact a business sales rep they will still email you a quote for under £300 no questions asked.

no, but from my own experience with dell... if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. dell is focused on businesses, not on individuals.

also at dell it highly depends who you gonna speak to. different people have different options available.

looking at the delivery problems dell has with this monitor (it got even unlisted in some countries), i guess they don't want to give discounts, because they dont have to or are not allowed to.

as a business customer you're treated differently, because the sales rep might need to meet his sales target and has more freedom in making quotes.

For those trying this out via chat, make sure you talk to the business division.

@iiNNeX Thanks for the PM :)

Dell e-mailed me today to delay it again now for the 18th of this month, I'll contact them soon.

Edit - Not sure when I contact Dell if I should ask them to lower my £350 price or if I should ask for a new order?

Contact a rep first and get a quote for a new order, the price difference may help you decide what to do and might help when trying to get a partial refund on your current order.

The popular Indian dish website has it in stock (the non A model) at the moment. Although it is at £389, however it does say they price match so I have sent off an email to see if they can match Dell's £280 price. If so, I ll grab it from there with free next day delivery :)

Highly considering doing this too, let me know how it goes!

I tried that. It's collection only, which is fine. Got to check out and put in my postcode... none in my area. Tried my work post code, 70 miles away, none in that area either.

YMMV but good luck :)

Well another week and another phone to DELL's CS. At least this time I didn't have one of their reps talking rubbish and making excuses :),

Nope , Instead they put me on hold for 5minutes and then disconnected the call while I was on hold. Anyone got a number for the complaints service at DELL
