New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

You can get it for £280 via chat and then 10% back due to ridiculous delays.

Not much chance of getting the 10% now that they are giving a delivery date of mid January for new purchases. Only the people who were given a 2-3 days delivery are the ones who can get the discount. Still worth trying to get it down to £280-£300 though.

The LG is what I have and it's excellent, zero complaints or problems in the week since I received it. I haven't hit 144 FPS yet (I don't have the graphics card to hit that performance level), but in the 60-100 FPS range I haven't seen any issues in games. I have an Nvidia 980 Ti for reference.
Cheers - I'm also on a 980 Ti

G7s came today I ordered 3.

I also ordered 3 start of Nov, first 2 dead/defective pixels, l thought the last panel was good but there was a light patch left centre only really visible on a grey screen, but once seen hard to un see. Ordered another 3 after being let down by Dell again. First panel has a number of defective dark grey pixels left centre, first thing you notice when you turn the panel on, could be dirt under screen, how did this pass QA ? second panel dark rectangle band horizontal across screen visible on grey screen. Last panel looks okay so far, bit of bleed, all 3 had bleed. I can tell this panel was also a refurb, stand is marked/scratched badly at screw attachment to panel. I never had this hassle in my life buying a screen - will keep last panel.

Ordered the S2721DGFA on the 16th of November - was told it would arrive on the 20th of November. In the meantime got my 1st delayed order email to say it would then be the 24th of November, only to get another today to say it would be January 2021?!? What on earth is going on ... should I cancel and get something else?

Apparently Dell are unable to get some parts needed to assemble the monitor. The monitor was flagged as in stock on the Dell system, this was a mistake. Cancelling is the best option at this stage because it might not even arrive by January.

When you say perks discount, is this a generic sales code?

It's some add on to my health insurance at work. Basically you can order the Indian place like card thing and then when you want to buy something load it with what ever amount you want say £339 and it give you 7% off. Its not a big discount but is always better in my pocket than theirs. I've asked them to send me a card then I can load it with whatever funds are needed if I want to buy from the Indian place at any time. Maybe there is something similar for anyone and my Mrs said she has the same thing with her job in the council‍♂️

I phoned the CS today, really out of curiosity, my order tracker is still on the blink and I was advised by the last Dell rep, my monitor was on its way today. ;)

Anyway, advised it will be the first 2 weeks of December. In all honesty, CS was appalling. Absolutely no point in pushing as we all know, over sold and they either don't exist, or something has gone horribly wrong in the supply chain. It looks like CS prioritise everyone's order - so anything they say is just words and hardly worth ranting about.

Anyway I never bothered to phish for a discount as to be honest, I am going to cancel, waited 2 months and to be honest, was okay to wait but the CS guy was a tit so now looking for an alternative.

I am very much stuck between the Asus TUF VG27AQ and the LG. The Asus is a bit more expensive but according to RTINGS it's "better" in more areas. The LG is cheaper and has slightly better colours/gradient due to 10bit panel.

As for that new best MSI screen the youtube channel we all watch reviewed, I only found one place with it listed and the site just looked dodgy... however it had a price and it was up for £520 or so RRP, down to £498 if you buy 5+ units. So considerably more than the Dell and LG, as well as the Asus.

Hmm...

I have also been looking at the ASUS TUF and it's ROG sister version as my son would love the rgb bells and whistles. I bought a MSI AG32CQ last year and to be honest it's incredibly disappointing. Motion / video blacks are blocky and distorted. I don;t think i would go for another MSI monitor without seeing it in person again.

There is still the LG 27GL850 which is still high on my list as well.

Glad I saw this thread. How in the Nine Hells are people getting this screen under £300?

It's close to £500 on Dell's website!! (£488)

Caught up with the last few pages now... has anyone here been able to get the £280 "haggle" price in the last couple days?

I've tried with about 10 different agents, all come out with different BS stories why it can't be done now, best offer I got was £300 and I said poke it unless I get the £280.80 deal They can get lost. Tbh even then I will probably end up cancelling it and buying a different monitor as there are better ones out very soon, yes they're more expensive but I don't really care about the saving from Dell it's the principle and the fact the dodgy Indians lie through their teeth.
Which "better monitors" are you referring to?

This Dell seems like the absolute pinnacle of IPS right now. I will be spending tomorrow haggling with some Dell CS to try to get that £280 price :p Totally worth it.

The dells s2721dgf isn't the pinnacle of IPS monitors as it uses the LG nano IPS panel that' been out ages! if you get it for a great price then no doubt it's a damn good buy as long as you are also happy waiting to January or probably even further down the line?

There are superior gaming monitors incoming that are 1440p IPS 240hz - no doubt they will be a lot more expensive but also a better gaming panel. Here are at least 2 on the radar!

Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor AW2721D
Acer Predator XB273U GX

Why do so many monitors come with stands that take up so much of your desk space?

The Dell shows that a 27" monitor can be supported on a stand with a small footprint.

To me 240Hz is a complete gimmick. Yes there is a (big) benefit going from 60->100+ Hz. From 144 to 240 many people can't even tell the difference.

I don't think it's a gimmick I think many people can tell the difference, it's just not as bigger difference going from 60 to 144 and for the average person probably 144hz is the sweet spot of smoothness and hardware to drive it, but the demand for ever faster frame rates by the e- sports community has now got 360hz monitors available to buy

just had a hularious customer services call today, mailed them a **** off complaint email yesterday and they just replied with the same delivery date, stated they had dealt with my enquiry and closed the ticket. not even a sorry :D

got my 10%, down to 270 now, job done. my delivery is now prioritised too lol. for the zero that's worth.

i have purchased another monitor now, so i'll wait until it arrives and check it over before i cancel the dell.

dell really do suck.

The customer care email is comical, its on a mission to close down the complaint. Dell should set up an auto reply and save themselves the bother. :p
