*** New Design 2012 iMac 21.5" & 27" ***

Would a 27" iMac with this spec last me roughly 3/4 years:

3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
1TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

Also wondering if I can upgrade the ram myself at some point in the future if needed?

I am still undecided on how to pay for this...Do I save for 3-6months, go for finance or get a 0% credit card for it. Damn, I just want it now! :D

Same spec as what I have in mind too.

Just under £2k with HE, and like you, it needs to last 3 years.

Its been a while since i bought ram you see, and from what i recall, these are the important things.

Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz SODIMM Kit (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10) [CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10]

DDR3

Thats the type of Ram

1600MHz

Clock speed

- 2 x 8GB Kit

So this is 16G and I need 2

- PC3-12800

This is another kind of speed? I notice there is a 10666C9 and a 15000C10 stuff.

- CL10 (10-10-10-27)

This is the timing and lower the better, Crucial is 11 so actually this is better.

timings make very little difference, its the PC3-12800 that you need and preferably 1.35v but the 1.5v work fine as well, at least on the mac mini. Get the 2 x 8GB kits to take you to 32GB or just add one to take you to 24GB for the time being and update the 2nd kit later if you need it.
