New essential Android apps thread

The best thing about Files Go is that unlike the primary method of sharing pictures via WhatsApp, Files Go doesn't strip EXIF info from photos. I hope Google bake this into the OS at some point in the next 50 years.

My friend was telling me about Dark Sky and it sounds great. But don't you have to subscribe now or something? How well does it work without GPS? (I wouldn't want it rinsing my battery)

I forget the exact price but it's something like 3 dollars per year. You get a week or two free trial when you install it though, so it's worth checking out. Works fine without GPS, you don't need 10 metre accuracy for weather forecasting.

Thanks I might give it a whirl and see how it affects battery life. Presumably for it to be useful it needs to update fairly often which means a bit of battery drain?

Stupid question time... is it normal for Nougat to require you press the "tick" button after entering your PIN? On my previous phone with Marshmallow, it automatically unlocked as you pressed the 4th digit.

My Nougat now needs the tick pressing. I guess technically it's more secure. If they don't even know how many digits, it makes it harder. For example, if yours is the same as mine 1234*, then someone trying 12345 would work on the old way, not the new.

* Don't be silly, it's not of course.

It's 0000.

I shouldn't be grumbling really. I already use the fingerprint sensor but you still have to enter a PIN every 72 hours. #seriousfirstworldproblems :p

Looking at the reviews for Today widget saying it doesn't work with Oreo. I do have Today pro but never bought the widget. A shame he stopped developing those apps.

Event Flow seems to do the trick the default theme is a nice transparency.

This might be a bit too basic for you but the Simple Calendar Widget is the one I use.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

After using Light Manager Pro for a few years Ive gone on to Light Flow. This app is amazing, much better than LMP. So much more customization.
