New Gaming Rig Advice..

Close I could get with out it not focusing.

Actually, on second inspection you may be OK - certainly for testing purposes.

Are they all in as fas as the bottom one in that picture?

I've stated many times - that if I ever meet the inventor of the pushpin design I will attach all 4 pins to his pre-frontal lobe. Should give him the instant, and obviously required, lobotomy that he deserves.

OK, attach PSU - 24pin and 6 pin.

Attach HS fan to motherboard CPU fan header.

Hook up monitor to onboard gfx.

Clear the CMOS (making sure PSU unplugged).

Stick in memory if it was removed.

Stick in battery if it was removed.

Plug in aaaaaaaaand....

...watch it fail :/

All good experience though. For example you now know to always buy a third party cooler and bin the piece of **** that INTEL provide.

Well - you've done all you can with the components you have to hand.

Well done - you've essentially reverse engineered your build. And will prove invaluable if you choose to rebuild or buy a new rig.

Decision time now...

I can do a list of pros and cons - but it could ultimately make it harder for you to decide what to do.

Thanks very much for your time and patience Plec, couldn't of done it without you, really appreciate it.

And if there is a positive I do feel like I've learnt a lot through this process so there is that.

Yeah I need all the help I can get right now. Brother said he'd buy my current system for £500 so would have that to put towards a new system if I went that route.

Or I could buy that motherboard you found and persevere with what I have.

OR I could take components that work in my current PC, selling the 7970, CPU etc and putting the money towards a new build.
