New Gaming Rig Advice..

Hopefully, 2933Mhz - but I've read a few posts (across many forums) of the Corsair LPX hitting 3200 (even the 3000 kits overclocked) so you may get lucky. But, different boards, brand of memory within the set, tweaks etc... So don't get too excited :)

Fingers crossed.

I'm trekking across the Gobi Desert on a funded study - ' Arenolgy - a study of sand and it's ability to seemingly get into everything' - zero internet/phone signal - set off tonight - complete coincidence :p

Would be useful if you update the first post with the final spec you ordered and maybe a short explanation on why an alternative component was selected. Would save me reading through 45 pages :)

Thanks

Page 44 , post #879 - listed.

He's happy with his choices - after lots of deliberation - hybrid build of old and new parts. Best bang for buck being the criteria (memory being the only premium as he wanted 3200 spec at £15 gamble).

As an a side - if you read the post late at night you would probably find it a great cure for insomnia. :)

Oh really? :D

In that case you'll have a backlog of them.to answer when you get back!

I reckon you're going to surprise yourself - the experience you gained from taking apart your old rig and reassembling your brother's will prove invaluable.

All things being equal you're due some luck!

Things to be prepared for tomorrow:
  • Remember to earth yourself - touch a bare bit of radiator/exposed copper pipe. When it's finally in the case you can plug in the PSU (switched off) and earth yourself off the bare metal of the case.
  • We'll power up outside of the case first (remember the screwdriver trick?)
  • 1 stick at first to flash the BIOS - as the MB will probably bulk at your memory in both slots at first.
  • No onboard gfx or within the CPU so we will have to use the GTX straight off the bat.
  • Once we've updated the BIOS, setup the BIOS and checked CPU temps - we'll transfer to case.
  • Then add just the SSD - and install Windows
  • Once installed add the rest...
It will all feel very familiar - just a slightly different look/way the CPU fits into the socket and the way the HS fits on top of the CPU. But nothing that is as irritating as the INTEL pushpin method.

Another Chinese supermarket thing, Morrison's 2sides+2mains for £6.50 you see.
AHA! - Got you covered tonight - i prepped my wife!

She's picking up a curry and all the side dishes on her way back (probably late) - but it will come, eventually!

And Curry trumps Chinese - back me up here Beady!

I have to say I'm a Curry person over Chinese, I'm a sucker for some Peshwari Naan Bread :D

It's some pub grub for me tonight, may go for a Mixed Grill!
