New Gaming Rig Advice..

FPS seems about right with everything on ULTRA - if you make a few selective tweaks you could probably add another 10 FPS average - but i've found that a steady 50-60 FPS is fine.

The odd stutter may be have been due to the GTA download - I always disable background activity when gaming unless it's a grinding type game and then i may have forums or YouTube open on a separate screen.

All sounds good and no cold boots issues?

And what are your temps like - GPU and CPU?

Just gave GTA a go, was a little jittery in the opening scene but seemed to be fine after that, I didn't realise until the end in the game settings my refresh rate was only 50hz for some reason, changed that now to 144hz.

How do you make sure everything is turned off in the background?

Also I don't know what the temps were like as still haven't figured out how to check them?

Has been booting fine :D

For GPU monitoring/FPS do the following (the CPU overlay wont work with a Ryzen chip yet):
  • Click the settings button in the middle of the MSI Afterburner control panel (looks like a cog)
  • Select the monitoring tab
  • tick the Show on screen display
  • In the above Advanced Hardware Monitoring section note the Properties column
  • Select OSD for all the properties you want to see overlaid on your gaming screen (top left)
  • I suggest:
  • GPU temp
  • GPU usage
  • Framerate
  • save/exit - i forget...

?

Screenshots - will check mine after lunch (i may have made a mistake - as answered from memory from briefly looking at my settings last night as i preempted your answer) - i'm on my laptop at the moment.

I'm not sure why you haven't got the 'Show On-screen Display' in the lower portion of the screen.

Can you show me an image of the General tab.

It maybe that you need Riva installed.

When you have MSI open do you have a RivaTunerStatistic in the taskbar - perhaps under hidden icons?

I'm confused as it keeps pestering to install Riva - but it could be I have a partial/basic install.

EDIT: Yes, I have the basic Rivatuner installed - that must be the difference.

Nice to hear. Really loving how gorgeous it looks, mostly very smooth, the first 10 minutes seems to have a few stutters then it sorts itself out.

Rust still stutters, not as bad but I really think that is just a mess, very badly optimised.
