It's a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB ATA.
hold down delete and get into the bios
if you can't get into the BIOS insert your old memory and return to BIOS and set the XMP back to auto (or however it's worded).
Right just got to pop out I'll do that once I'm back. Set it to auto then reinsert the new RAM correct?if you can't get into the BIOS insert your old memory and return to BIOS and set the XMP back to auto (or however it's worded).
Did you get round to updating the BIOS?
If not what version are you on?
And if you did update the BIOS - you could clear the CMOS instead of removing the memory as you would know your BIOS settings? As this would return the setting back to auto too.
That just not cricket...
Clear the CMOS - unplug pc and follow instructions in your manual or give me 5 minutes.
Shall I put the new RAM back in while I'm at it or do I have to wait until I've reset the BIOS?You need to get a screwdriver - reasonable size head that's clean (sounds ominous )
Just behind the F-Panel Header (where all your wires for the case plug in) - you'll see 2 pins sticking up with the words CLR_CMOS written behind them.
With the PC unplugged and depleted of power (press power switch when off) - then touch the 2 pins together (shorting) for a few seconds.
Then plug everything back in, and switch on - go to BIOS and load factory defaults - save and exit.
