New Gaming Rig Advice..

if you can't get into the BIOS insert your old memory and return to BIOS and set the XMP back to auto (or however it's worded).

Did you get round to updating the BIOS?

If not what version are you on?

And if you did update the BIOS - you could clear the CMOS instead of removing the memory as you would know your BIOS settings? As this would return the setting back to auto too.

I did update it mate yes. I haven't really messed with any BIOS settings apart from the XMP we did so all would be default anyway. How do you clear CMOS? I don't mind putting old RAM in and changing then putting new one back in.

As an aside - it should have only done a couple of restarts - so you did the right thing in querying it.

If it starts to loop again we'll clear CMOS.

That just not cricket...

Clear the CMOS - unplug pc and follow instructions in your manual or give me 5 minutes.

You need to get a screwdriver - reasonable size head that's clean (sounds ominous ;))

Just behind the F-Panel Header (where all your wires for the case plug in) - you'll see 2 pins sticking up with the words CLR_CMOS written behind them.

With the PC unplugged and depleted of power (press power switch when off) - then touch the 2 pins together (shorting) for a few seconds.

Then plug everything back in, and switch on - go to BIOS and load factory defaults - save and exit.

Shall I put the new RAM back in while I'm at it or do I have to wait until I've reset the BIOS?
