New iPod??

Well said.. The classic/touch split seems like a smart move when it comes down to it. By making the commitment to flash on the flagship model, I'm sure they'll get preference/discounts when the real high capacity stuff appears!

Am I the only one who sees the Classic as the swan song for the harddisk-based iPod?

Certainly the name "Classic" suggests it could be a collectable when they go all-flash, who knows :)

I'd love to see a iTouch with lots of flash storage!

Does anyone know how much the Ipod nano weighs vs the ipod classic? (the new generations of course)

Nano
1.74 ounces
49.2 grams

80GB Classic
4.8 ounces
4.9 ounces
140 grams

I reckon so, the Touch and Nano will be the best sellers. Infact the touch is already shown as the top selling iPod item on the Apple store.

I'm tempted by a classic but I a) don't want to use itunes and have heard they are restricting more strongly now and b) am unsure of the sound quality on these, and yes, I would be using osmething other than the trashy headphones that come with it.

You can be sure they'll be 3rd party apps working with the new iPods very soon if they don't already. Just like there is with the previous models.

16gb Touch is in my hand now.. manages to pick on up from Fenwicks in newcastle at lunch time.. With a little sweet talking I managed to get hold of the display model.

Initial impressions, very nice.. having a little trouble getting Wi-Fi connected to BTOpenZone but that could be a problem with the building (having problems with my Laptop as well). One thing is that it does get greesy...

You sweet talked your way to get the display model?!

I hate to think how many people have handled that thing! I'm suprised they didn't offer it to you

... having to persuade them is the opposite to what I'd expect

This makes for a difficult decision, I really like the nano and touch.

I had the same so I just bought both ;) , I run a lot so I need small and I use Nike+ so I bought nano but I also love Internet on the go, and future e-books for touch so I got that too ;)

Damn you people getting both!!

I'm just reading this week's MacUser and they have a 8 page article about the iPod Touch!.. I have the classic, and plan on getting the iPhone but it's so hard to resist!!

It's just soooo thin!!
