**** New Official DayZ Thread *****

For those who've lost characters mysteriously, apparently there is a timeout bug which the server will hold your (aggressive zombie attracting) avatar present on the server up to 15mins after you've quit.

Also a similar one involving the 15mins of lag where you are playing on a server, yet an avatar of you (exact replica) is glued to the spot somewhere you've been. This can be attacked and you will die, despite being elsewhere on the map. When this happens, you will be unable to interact with anything on the server. If your avatar is untouched, the game should kick you, or remove the other avatar (if the lag stops).

Otherwise, you're dead.

How the hell can people even play this? Spent all of last night trying to get the game to work, I can't connect to 3 of the 4 MGT servers and the Chernarus server is always full.

Goto the mgt website and you'll find simple instructions on how to get in the other three servers, it really is only a case of copy n pasting a line of text.

Yes, finally found a gun and then some ammo that actually fits it!!

Can now get revenge for all the times I've been shot in the head by some kn0bjockey whilst standing with my hands up saying 'friendly', 5 mins after spawn and nothing in my possession except a tin opener.

I normally end up with a ton of 12 gauge shells, a .45 with no clip and a Magnum with no ammo. Are there even shotguns in the game??? Never seen one.

There is definitely something dodgy with the MGT servers, when they reset it locks and lets around 30 people on, then stays in a locked position until about 40 people join, then it opens up and then you can join.

Just now it locked at 48/50 and then opened again at 50/50. Something dodgy is going on.

I imgine it's auto locking to allow the server to spawn stuff in quicker/scripts to initialise. If you allow max people to connect when it starts it severly lowers the performance of the server.

Not trying to be rude dude, but its really not it.

Literally within seconds of the server being up its locked and couple of seconds later 20+ people join. Get DayZ commander and watch the server, there is some kind of preferential treatment of certain players going on.

As soon as a server is restarted people will spam to get back in. When we were running a wasteland server up to 30 people would join before we could even lock it.

Got on the [MGT] Panthera server last night for a bit. Enjoyed it a lot. Loads of buildings to enter and outfits to wear. (This may be not a new thing, but I've not played Dayz for a while)

I'm not sure of the legality and Steam Greenlight contracts that the EULA stipulate, but i'm sure if the game didn't make it out of Alpha (or even failed to deliver as a release) that someone somewhere will open a can of legal to cause (at least) some headache for the developer.

There is no paid slots (or even admin slots ) on MGT . The server locks on restart to lessen the load and stop issues while the server boots . Once the first group has progressed it unlocks and lets the next group in .

The servers are very busy and you either get on restarts (Server restart times are 7am 10am 1pm 4pm 7pm 10pm 1am and 4am GMT ) or smash the enter key from the ingame browser (dont try and enter via commander on reboot as by the time the game loads the server will be full )

You have to appreciate how it looks for a new player. I have had DayZ installed and running fine and over 4-5 days I've managed to get around 4-5 hours of gameplay on the MGT chern server. The rest of the time has been sat semi staring at commander/in game waiting for a spot to open, then after restarts you see 30+ people in and the server locking, it just looks like that.

Maybe add a Chern 2 server ;)

We have been asked to add duplicate servers loads of times but would rather have 1 full server than 2 half empty ones..

For vanilla dayz it works but for epoch with base building/safes etc it dose not really work.

We have 4 servers to play on but there was a recent frankie vid on chern so its abit harder than normal to get on .
But its rare i have to wait longer than 5 mins for a slot

As I stated above, i got on Panthera fine last night, at what I would call peak time (9pm). Yes, Chern was full all night, but the other 3 servers all had slots open throughout the night.
