New Shiny GPU's Coming Soon - Ordering Process to guarantee highest queue position

No wonder prices keep going up the way they have been with people like this.
Imagine what would happen to prices of no one bought them on release day or for a month or two.
Yes!

I keep posting on the Lamborghini and Bugatti forums telling them this. Hopefully one day everyone will stop buying them and I can pick one up cheap

Yes because that's the same scenario. But it would work. Like all things something's worth what people are ready to pay for it.
It's the way people go nuts for a new GPU.

Can’t see why they would go below 2499. They’ll still sell out for 6 months at least and then they can just drop the price if demand falls. Given how good the card looks like for workspace use though, I can’t see demand falling much at all.

If I wanted one and I couldn't get one for 6 months, at that point I'd think say sod it, I'll just wait for the next one to see if I can get that

It will never happen, but it would be good to have a 15 minute exclusivity window, where you verify your established account on checkout (1 per customer).

I'm not sure what are good deterrents in all honesty, I don't know enough about what a bot can be scripted to get around.
They should sell each card for £10k so the buy bots either auto buy them or fail, then members get a discount code to get the actual price. Also one card per postal address / credit card.

CES is only 6/7th I doubt it will be "and they are available now" launch. It will be a couple of weeks I'd have thought at the very least?

Edit;
The 4090 was announced on September 20, 2022, at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2022 event, and launched on October 12, 2022.
They had to shift a shed load of over manufactured 30 series after the mining bubble burst, this isnt the same.

Why would Gibbo announce this if he would have another month to make a post... It wouldnt make any sense.

edit: a couple of weeks would be reasonable, but any more than that id be VERY surprised.

I think he's simply giving a heads up due to the recent experience with the 9800x3ds.

Depends on whether they're allowing overselling/queueing. Either there will be some stock coming or it's purely for pre-ordering.

Didn't they also say that the 5090 would come out after the 5080, etc?

Given people complain about the price of high end graphics cards every 2 years, as a matter of interest how much do other "men's" hobbies cost?
I have no idea how much it costs for example to be a golfer (membership and club costs etc) or how much a football season tickets cost + travel, but I suspect an expensive graphics card might be cheap in comparison no?

To my mind buying a £2000 5090 over 2 years would cost £83 a month.

I'm hoping for the new 4080 Super for around £1000. Started MSFS 2024 at triple 1440p lately, the RTX3080 manages 40fps with DLSS. would be nice to hit 50fps with higher quality settings

Not sure throwing £1k just go get 50fps is good
