New Shiny GPU's Coming Soon - Ordering Process to guarantee highest queue position

Given people complain about the price of high end graphics cards every 2 years, as a matter of interest how much do other "men's" hobbies cost?
I have no idea how much it costs for example to be a golfer (membership and club costs etc) or how much a football season tickets cost + travel, but I suspect an expensive graphics card might be cheap in comparison no?

To my mind buying a £2000 5090 over 2 years would cost £83 a month.
Golf is like 1k/year to play the on the pitch and the bats are anywhere from 300-3k
I ride a motorcycle, that costs me way more than my pc hobby and i spend a damn sight more time on the pc lol

It's your money, who gives a **** how you spend it. Just make sure you enjoy it.

Same, new bike every year and new GPU every 2 years + whatever the latest CPU is out.
I never can quite understand the whiners on here who get their panties in a bunch when people spend money on what they enjoy.

Not sure throwing £1k just go get 50fps is good
okay so when you put it like that it doesnt sound like a big bargain but I mean to increase the quality settings too, otherwise I'm sure the fps would go up a lot higher. I don't need a very high framerate, just a smooth one

Dont know where you play Golf but 1k/year is very cheap. From what I've seen you need another 0 on that figure. I dont think the spend is the point I think its more to do with the rise in price of top end cards. eg the 980ti many moons ago was what £750 for the top end card. Now for a top end card you are looking at £2000. Unfortunately its the new norm and people have the right to complain about it. Again people have the right to spend their money on whatever. Personally £2000 is ridiculous for a GPU. I`m so glad I got off the upgrade train a few years ago (my 3090 was new £900) and that will be my last big GPU spend probably ever.

I've seen some leaks that suggests the 5090 will be like €1200 more than the 5080, though it's based on the price of a full pre-built system and not all parts were visible on the leak (like maybe there was a different power supply), plus you have the cut for that business building the system.
So the true price is probably a bit less, and it's euros so it should be a bit less again in GBP.
My guess would be that the 5090 is more like €900-1000 more than the 5080 if you were buying it standalone, which if a 5080 is going to be £1200 that would put the 5090 at roughly £2000.
This wasn't the Nvidia reference edition either.
The 4080 didn't sell well at £1200 so maybe the 5080 will be cheaper than £1200, but stick around £1200 due to "inflation", and such.

a Daniel watcher i see.

IIRC they have done forum codes and odd locations on the shop store in the past , but these where soon getting posted to other websites negating the purpose.

Because then people who can don’t moan about the people who can’t. And it isn’t mutually exclusive to the graphics cards. It happens in every hobby whatever that may be.

People are not happy with you sharing the same passion as them. Sooner or later they get drawn that you spent xxx amount while they only spent xxx amount.

It applies to all hobbies and ages.
