New SSD Boot Timer

This bench is out because i was at desktop & loaded up Firefox in 35 seconds but yet that hourglass kept on counting to 106 seconds to desktop with WD not on the raid & have at least 12 programs loading at startup.

Anyway Im getting a Vertex 3 when they land.

I Tried it with my 2x Samsung Spinpoint F3's in Raid 0. It got to windows, Antivirus loaded, Internet Connection was done and Steam was loaded in 28 Seconds.

Time to Log-on : 22 Seconds
Time to Desktop : 28 Seconds

No OC ethier. 2600k @ 3.4Ghz with GUI Boot Enabled, loading all services.

samsung spintpoint 2x HD502J f1 500gb in Raid 1 mirror.

few startup items like avast, saphire trixx (2sec oc countdown), ccc, asus xonar control center, usb 3.0 mon (also annoying raid post menu at boot and Gui)

Raid 0 was slower for me in loading and really seemed to slow down general access. as proven by Br4d nicely above. loading hundreds of files with a slower access time in raid 0 takes its toll i guess.

had 19 secs to logon and 24 secs to desktop when my wireless was disabled :)

my hdtach for spintpoint is 140mbs read, 120mbs average if it wasnt for legacy bios on my new 890gx board id be using the fast new unified bios boots :(

With 2 x Western Digital Black 1TB HDD's. Not all that much different from some SSD's really.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This seem to be my average.

But I bet your system feels slow when its just booted up as it does all the superfetch rubbish, but with a ssd it can do its superfeching without having any impact on the windows performance. So as soon as windows is booted, everything is lightning fast with ssd, and thats the best thing about ssd's I think.

No doesn't feel slow at all but then I have never used SSD so have nothing to compare it to, where as you have used a normal HDD in raid 0 I take it so you will know. I am happy with what I have though a 233 mb/sec read and write does me just fine.....for now :D

Mine was a tad sluggish when windows had just been booted for a few mins, while it did its superfetching untill things opened/loaded instantly, but now with the ssd things open/load instantly right from the beginning:D

can't beleive how quick it is, as soon as im at the desktop i can click something and it's open straight away, no more waiting for 2 mins for the drive to grind up and do whatever it was doing :D
