New Star Trek series - 2017

Trouble with that picture is that it makes me think Prof Xavier rather than Picard, not his fault of course, he was older when he did that role so an older him makes me see that role rather than the younger role. That's probably down to it just being a headshot without a lot of context to it though, I'm sure it will be different once its in the right surroundings etc.

I dont think they should attempt TNG 2 to be honest, folk need to leave that behind for another show to pick up.
ST: Picard should be unique, its got the greatest talent ever to grace ST and that should be all it needs.

There are other projects under way, Discovery S3 as well which i am looking forward to as S2 was great. Of course there is also the Orvil for fans of TNG and laughs.

Stewart is in my opinion probably the best actor ST has seen so i'm pretty sure he can do a good job of bringing Picard back, and as the poster above me stated this needs to be unique. Bringing back Picard means this one needs to cater to the old TNG fans but not be a re-hash of the old stuff at the same time I reckon.

He's taken over from the old gardener dude, gets involved with a load of misfit students and goes off on a mission..

Finally caught up and saw the end of season 2. Wow good stuff there. :o Extremely excited for season 3 given
finally we'll have some ST set in the far future with cool and unique tech. Will be interesting to see what kind of story they create there as they've got limitless possibilities.

And Pike is just too damn awesome. His ******* hair is awesome, his smile is awesome, his whole demeanour and charisma is awesome... That scene where the whole crew turns to salute him as he's about to step in the turbo lift... And the "hit it" at the end. Going to seriously miss him from the show and hope they either do a spin off with him or bring him back in the role in some show or movie. He plays it to perfection. :D

Just finished watching this myself last week, really enjoyed the series and agree with you about Captain Pike. Going to be tough to replace him.

It looked amazing and I was never bored watching any episode.

S2 was leagues ahead of S1, S3 be interesting to see where they go, I know the shows meant to be based on, erm I actaully cant remember her name now its been a while, but characters like Pike and Lorca are what has given the show interest so far...

I think that Discovery has been pretty weak so far, moments of brilliance but overall I have been enjoying Orville more.

However with a completely unrestrained series three coming I am excited to see what they can do.

This is going to be the thing. Without the shackles of continuity which they proved utterly inept at dealing with in S1&2 they now have a free hand to go create a universe to play in. I really, really hope that they're up to the task. Because if Disco S3 ends up as just being more of the same but with different names for things then they'll have fallen into the same trap that Enterprise did.

As good as having Pike onboard was, I do hope that they don't parachute another new face in to command the ship. Give Saru the captain's chair, promote Stamets to XO (Reno can do the engineering side of the stories, assuming the show can still afford Tig Notaro), toss Burnham out of the nearest convenient airlock.

Into an asteroid.

And then fire every torpedo that the ship still has at that asteroid. Drain the phaser banks against the leftover chunks of that asteroid. Reduce the asteroid and Bonehead's splattered corpse to their component atoms. Then maybe, just maybe, this next season will be worth watching.

:)

I've not really followed Orville, I watched a chunk of it but then ended up watching something end and loosing interest...

Orville has 2 great then 1 cliché episode that makes you think, urghhh I won't be getting those 50 mins back. Rinse and repeat.

It's still A Great addition to sci-fi and it's entertaining.

Only 37, really?
Shows how good the character was, I would have thought he was in loads more than that..
