New Star Trek series - 2017

There are men with first names that can also be female names, so why Not?

Whens the last time you heard of a woman with the name Michael? I know some names like Courtney\Tracy etc can be interchangeable but first I've ever heard Michael being used for a womans name, would have thought that's what the name Michaela was for, a feminine version of Michael.

It was confirmed months ago the michael was her name.

It was also the talk months ago that the show looked like being a total cluster **** and there was a lot of behind the scenes drama so i lost interest at that point until very recently. So the michael name is news to me.

A woman called Michael, nothing wrong with that, perhaps shes transgender (social tick box and all that) but didnt want to change her name, her choice :D

I think the Trekkies need to unbunch their panties. I just watched it as a standalone series based on star trek and really enjoyed it. I could give a monkeys what happened in previous star trek series and they can call the lead role whatever they want for me. Bernard would be my choice.

Looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds.

Liked it but i'm not a fan of the Klingon character designs or the Klingon ship designs, the Federation ships at least look like Federation ships. The Klingon ships don't really bear any resemblance to Klingon ships at all, and the character designs are very obviously based off Abrams "blingons" design. Those 2 gripes aside its more of a matter of getting used to how things look and then it'll just be the norm at some point. Just hope some more familar ship designs from the Klingon side start to appear as the ones in these 2 episodes looked pretty bleh.

II could give a monkeys what happened in previous star trek series

So you're saying you do care what happened in previous star trek series :)
