New summer transfer thread

Is Berbatov what United need right now? He's undoubtably an excellent player but so far this season it's clear Man U just need someone who can stick the ball in the net. Anelka would be much more suited imo and would cost a lot less.
 
As good as Berbatov is, do we really need a 3rd player who picks the ball up from deep? I'd have thought we'd be busting a gut for a player who prefers the ball over the top and has pace to burn (Anelka/Martins).

Without Tevez I'd have wanted Berbatov, but Rooney, Berbatov and Tevez is a great line of deep lying forward players.

He comes with a lot more baggage as well though, he seems to have settled down of late but its my only real question mark about him

Still gutted about Yak, but I will eat my words if he proves me wrong. Somehow I doubt it though. Never been a fan of johnsons. Great movement, but easy to knock off the ball and doesnt finish well enough in my opinion.
 
I wouldnt get too excited Gimp - DM also "broke" the news that OH would sign for Man Utd before his bday in 2006!!!

I cant honestly see Berba moving before next summer at the earliest (and thats only if Spurs dont get a CL qualifying place)

We do need someone - and preferably for Sunday (I have a horrible feeling Robbo will put in a MotM performance after his horrors last night)

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened IF Crystal Palace hadnt been so honest (admittedely the fact it wasnt a EPL team might have made people at OT dubious to start with).

Confusion - how much do you think Man Utd have actually paid out? I would make a £10 bet its less than £30m all told (with another £20+m to pay) - dont forget the Obi, Smith and Richardson fees that we would have been paid as well as Heinze (for £8m?)

Yeah, true - but Gill has backed Fergie for funds when needed. So if he needs more, im sure he'll get it somehow.
 
Throw one of the youngsters in. Whats the point of having a youth system if we never use it.

True, i like the look of Eagles, Evans, Campbell, and cant remember the other guys name..hmm.
 
Don't know anything about him and at 31 he's not the long term fix we need, I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Bhoularouz:(
 
Fulham putting in around £1.5-2m for Gravesen @ Celtic.

Good buy if we get him, sort of player we need.

And to the player above, who? :D
