This has really annoyed me!

Can't believe they got rid of him, rumours were floating around weeks ago about this and he shrugged it off. It says 5 winless games, they held Chelsea to a draw in that?

Great win over Sunderland, sat 11th in a pretty tight league, Chris appeared to have the backing of all the players and has done a brilliant job in a position not many people will want.

Really am just amazed by this, I have absolutely no idea what Ashley is expecting to do now. Part of me wants to see them go down again to shut his fat face up but the players do not deserve it.

TBH it's been on the cards for a while; the lack of a long term contract and no movement on appointing an assistant. They just wanted an excuse and the result at the weekend was it.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

As has been said, given the players and the resources available to him he's worked wonders.

Sad day in football, he has done an amazin job at Newcastle and this is his thx, it truely is a shame as well as the people to get hurt now are the fans of the club, Newcastle could become relegation contenders after this as i really felt it was him who kept the club pushing forward and doing so well.

One of the reasons for his sack according to the press resease was "need for a manager with more experince"

So you can count Shearer out.

I cant think of any Managers that are about that will be better. O N'eil surely wouldnt touch the Newcastle job after he quit Villa because he didnt think the owners ambitions were matching his/

Maybe Liverpool will sack woy and he will find him self over there :D Would make my Xmas if Phil "tango" Brown took over

i hope newcastle go down after they sacking of Hughton i though our old owners Gillete and Hicks were bad lol.

Just heard this, can't believe it tbh, he has done a great job and they treat him like this?

Newcastle really are a joke of a club.

Newcastle really are a joke of a club.

Its an absolute joke!! Your right. Completely disgraceful. He's worked damn hard and done a brilliant job to get them back up to the top tier of English football. He deserves much much better than the treatment he's been given and the players worked hard for him and respected him.

Hopefully they'll be relegated now!!!

ps mike ashley...great time to sack a manager before the busy christmas and new year period. dumb ass!

Wow - what a reward for a top bloke.

I really hate being a Newcastle fan at times - what disrespect shown to someone who worked very hard to delivery us back to the Premiership the season after relegation, with little to no funds with a squad of no confidence. Sure we have had some yo-yo results and seem to do well against the top teams and throw some silly goals away to the lesser; but thats how we do it... still 11th in the Prem with some real promise.

The fact he kept the team back 90minutes after Sundays game to give them a bashing shows his passion, the players will now likely feel responsible for his departure!

Shocking decision really, Hughton got them back into the Premiership and sitting mid table after 16 games what more do they want from him?

I hope to see Chris Hughton at another Premiership club soon, he deserves it.

""yesterdays victory over west ham means grant will be sacked before xmas. Nufc want first pick of manager - and they want pardew.

wally downes has just gone to west ham and worked with pardew at reading and southampton - grant was given three games to save his skin.

Pardew was 100% sounded out a month ago for nufc and two weeks ago for whufc.""

thats from a supposedly quite reliable source on another forum, make of it what you will :)

either way the sacking of hughton is an absolute joke :(

Peter Beardsley is in charge now!!!

The management must be complete retards to be honest, get rid of manager for no experience & then shove someone else in who has even less experience. Could have at least kept Hughton on till they found a more experienced manager.
