If Phil Brown takes over I will personally torch St James's Park.

would be the weirdest one yet..a sunderland fan managing newcastle and a newcastle fan managing sunderland

to be honest its a horror show of names that are available

hot tip is alan pardew ?!!

but theres the likes of Megson still lurking about..when you look at names like that, Phil Brown doesn't seem so bad!

I am ruling out Martin O'neill simply because I don't believe Ashley will back him financially

beardsley and steve stone? dear oh dear. one great footballer and one pretty average one, what managerial experience do they have?

apparently hughton kept the players locked in the dressing room for an hour after their defeat to wba and this raised a few eyebrows, seems fair enough to me, he's a manager, let him manage

Apparently Sol Campbell has released a statement condemning the sacking and saying the players will be mystified by it all

so that Sol finished as well then

Reading the statement you get the impression he maybe speaking for a few of the players!

In all honesty i couldn't rate Chris as a manager, probaly said as much last season, it was a situation that the bloke should have never been thrust in to in the first place.

That saying though, the only way newcastle were going to stay up this year without the help of others being worse than them, was continuing on the spirt he built on in the 2nd half of last season.

With the league being what it is this season, the kinda drive and belief he built up with the team... that was enough to pull enough results to keep newcastle up.

You gota fear now if your a fan of the club, all the belief he docked into players will have been crushed and you're back to square one again:(

It will take one hell of an inspiring manager to pull it back... a venables ect, though i can't see the locals going for that:/

Sad day anyway, the owner realy acts on a wimb, screwing over the fans/players, and decent folk like hughton, who realy doesn't deserve that crap hand he's been dealt in recent times.

Journeyman Sol weighs in on the traditions of NUFC:

teh b33b said:
Newcastle defender Sol Campbell criticised the decision.

"This will hit the players hard," the former England centre-back told ESPN Soccernet. "The players admired him and liked him and won't be happy now he's gone like this.

"It makes no sense. Here is a guy who has done an unbelievable job. He got the club back into the Premier League and any manager would have been rewarded for that with a new contract, but Chris wasn't.

"The players are sure to be asking themselves 'what the hell is going on?', that is only natural.

"When we left training this morning none of the players had a clue this was coming. Yes, it has come as a shock, and it will affect the dressing room there is no doubt about that."

Well done Mike Ashley, basically the top most talked about topic on Twitter today! What a ****.

Haven't got the linkie but rumours are going round that Gutierrez, Carroll and Smith have stuck their oars in along with Sol over the complete farce the situation has become.

Cue mass implosion of morale, Carroll out getting lashed and getting arrested again, Barton going completely off his rocker again and stop being a decent player, a 5/6-0 spanking off the scousers and a horrendous Xmas period to leave us bottom 3 by January.

You heard it here first.

They talked about it on Twitter, apparantly they weren't notified and came into training to have Hughton not... there.

I hope they have kicked up a fuss in a way, not to the detriment of Newcastle but to show their disgust at the fool.

Maybe player power in instances like this is for the best, someone needs to tell him what an arse he is.

Jol just resigned from ajax.

Please tell me Jol is not stupid enough to take over a club like Newcastle. No manager will ever do well with Ashley in charge

Tbh this was coming for a while although why would u sack him he's done a great job changing manager mid season is a terrible idea. We all new Zola was getting sacked at west ham but they waited till the season was over even though Zola did a good job some club owners just expect to much.
