*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I've never used a case or cover for my phones - but I'm going on holiday next week and will be using it at the beach/photos/etc. Bit worried about getting sand and grit in it, and I suspect sand is very good for scratching the glass too..

What sort of accessory should I get?

Thanks for any ideas!

Been holding off upgrading from my S2 for a while now but £240 is just silly cheap - time to join the N5 club!

Grab a flip case from Amazon. But beach holiday is better served with a cheap camera

I wish they would fix the camera hiss. I liked the n5 and it's price but they seem to be taking an awful long time to fix something that is apparently a software issue!

Yeah it's odd. If I switch mode and then back again it focuses fine.

Oh I actually didn't know there focus bug while recording, but it does happen to me sometimes. I will turn on video and the screen will remain blurry and won't focus no matter how long I wait. How I fix it is I just move the camera to focus on something else and it'll focus properly on the new subject and then I just move the camera back to my original subject and it'll focus just fine.

Are the wireless chargers any use, or more of an expensive gimmick?

The google one is brilliant when used with the nexus 5 but is rubbish with the nexus 7. With the 5, you can feel it align with the charger by itself and it will start charging immediately. The 7 is another matter, you have to move it millimetre by millimetre and wait for the charging light to come on. It's much faster to plug in a cable.

I have a launch n5, but only bought the official wireless charger last month. I know it's overpriced, but this is my first wireless charger and I wanted to make sure I got one that worked with no probs, so went for the official one.

It works great for me because I put it beside my bed. I like to use my phone a bit in bed before falling asleep and then I just plop it on the charger before I fall asleep so it's at full charge in the morning.

However, I will say you do kind of need to find the sweet spot when placing it on the charger. I read some reviews that said the magnets will automatically move the n5 in place if you misaligned it. I haven't found that to be true and to make sure it wasn't my case, which is just an ultra slim spigen case, I tried it without the case too. In both cases, you do need to find the sweet spot yourself and the phone will never align itself through magnet pull.

I try to hold the phone over the spot where the magnet pull feels strongest, then place it down and this usually works but not always. If it doesn't I just slide the phone around until I hear the charging sound. So, that is my only small gripe with it as it's not as drop anywhere and don't worry about it as I thought and you do need to be careful and find the sweet spot to drop it on. Other than that I absolutely love it for the convenience factor.

I picked up one from Amazon for £15 works well. But use the wall charger most of the time. The wireless ones look nice on a desk for top up charger.

got the nokia one off ebay for £22 - it turns off automatically which IMO is a HUGE plus.

also works on my nexus 7 with no issues and the build quality of nokia is well known.

IMO you would be hard pushed to find a better wireless charger

Just changed to vomer amoled colour profile and it's very good.

Better than true rgb I was using before but may be too saturated for some.

I suggest that you try out all the colour profiles, makes a huge difference to the screen.

IPhone colour profile was completely rubbish

I bought a second one from CPW thinking someone in my family would definatly want it. Turns out no one does - probably should have checked but it was such a good deal and I was hungover. So, I'm stuck with a new and unopened Nexus 5. How should I sell it? Gumtree, MM, ebay? I'm not intending to make profit I just want my money back - they say no returns at CPW. OOps! :p

Could someone save me from reading through the 165 pages of this thread and recommend a screen protector and case please?

Picked up one today from my local store, good to see they are doing the deal in-store aswell!

As a first time android user, anyone recommend settings/apps to download?

And also, my LED light doesn't seem to be working when I get a notification, and I've downloaded some app called LED Manager or something? Doesn't seem to work though!
