Are the poetic bumpers for these as good as they were for the N4? If not, what other decent alternatives are there?

Just trying to sort out a car dock solution and really, really annoyingly just noticed that whilst the USB port is in the same place they've switch it round. What that means for example is you can't use a Nexus 4 charging dock with an Nexus 5 and visa versa.

I really hope they didn't do that on purpose and equally I'd have hoped they'd thought about that and just kept it the same way round. I can't see why switching it round would have any benefits at all either.

w00ts, last time I have to use my crappy S2 camera :p

How long do you expect the Nexus 5 to receive updates for?

Lets assume Android 5 arrives this October and (5.5 or 6) in October 2015, do you think the Nexus 5 'should' or 'might' make it that far?

Top Gear Maths:

Nexus One
Released Jan 2010, last update Jan 2011 (12 months)

Nexus S
Released Dec 2010, last update Jul 2012 (19 months)

Galaxy Nexus
Released Nov 2011, last update Jul 2013 (20 months)

Nexus 4
Released Nov 2012, last update ??? (16 months +)

Nexus 5
Released Oct 2013, last update ??? (5 months +)

So following an average of at least 18 moths, the Nexus 4 will likely get any updates until the middle of this year, and the Nexus 5 will see updates through until April 2015ish. And we should expect the Nexus 6 around October this year, which will likely bring a new version of Android.

It should get 3 to 4 major OS updates.

Nexus 7 has gone 4.1 - 4.2 - 4.3 - 4.4. Lets see what happens to it this summer.

Just taken delivery of my N5, lovely looking phone.

A quick question about syncing (as that is what it is currently doing, how much will it sync? Will my desktop look the same as my N4 by the time it is done or is that a manual job?

not sure i follow. it works the same way as gmail does on a web browser. it goes off and searches for whatever you are requesting. It does not download each and ever mail

Going forward I think we will see longer support for Nexus devices, the N4 and N5 are still very powerful devices, the GN had a really bad SoC which is some of the blame for its dropped support.
