*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Lightflow is good for customising the notification LED and Nils lockscreen widget is good for customising notifications on lockscreen to make it like iOS in that regard.

Can you link me up? Sounds ideal!

This is the one I went for

I had the Spigen Ultra thin case and it has scratched the corners of my phone!

It looks and feels great when it's on the phone, but why bother with a case if it strips off the rubberised coating on the corners?

Fair point but I can't envisage taking the case off too often to be honest!?!?

My only minor grumble at the moment is that the the semi-rubberised back does attract the oils in your fingers!

So there is nothing I need to do to enable 4g on the device?

Three sent me a new sim and it's live and in the phone, but it is only showing 3g.

I've checked on the 3 website, Im just inside the boundary for indoor/outdoor 4g coverage, but it does say from March 2014. But we're mid March now...

----

But... this phone is blazingly quick compared to my old GS2!

---

I was losing battery power like anything, but I turned off: Location Reporting And History and it seems to be a bit better.

I'm using the same Three sim I've had for years, I haven't noticed any sim updates. There isn't any 4G where I live yet, but when I've been travelling through Reading and London the phone picks up 4G fine.

It'll automatically switch as soon as you're in a 4G area, my house is right on the boundary but I don't get it till I'm a little way down the street so the coverage maps aren't completely accurate for obvious reasons especially if you're already on the boundary.

I didn't receive a software update. 4G just started working. You just need to enable it in the settings. I'm on Three (UK) by the way.

4G seems to give the battery a good spanking though, I was in Brum city center for a few hours yesterday so full 4G signal all the way and my battery was hammered even though I'd touched the phone very little.

Initial observations with this Nexus device.

It's nice, simple and elegant. No bloat ware at all. Very snappy and fast.

It is BIG tho. Just fits in my coat pocket.

Do miss the centre button on my GS2, which I used to quickly wake up the device to look at time etc.

As for cases, anything more than the slim case I bought, would render the device too big and bulky for me.

Im enjoying the little things the device seems to have which my GS2 didnt. For example, although I had Hang Outs installed on the GS2, there are a lot more emoticons on the Nexus and even a spell checker... which my GS2 wasnt doing!

The size is just something you get used to. After a month the screen on your S2 will seem a bit small.

You'll get used to the size very quickly! Try going from a Note 3 to a nokia 100! It feels like a toy by comparison.... and infact it was something I let my three year old play with :p

I think the nexus is a nice compromise on size and functionality and truth be told I personally should have stayed nexus 5. It would have been sat happily in my shirt pocket and avoided the fate of the note too!

Phone does seem to charge quick. Which indicates to me a small capacity battery (or maybe the charger is passing through a higher charge)

How do we get the most from Google now?

For example I was going out last night and wanted to see when the next bus would arrive. However Google now wasnt displaying the travel cards....

(Yes I know I can see it on the bus stand or on the lcd display) but this was just a test.

Anyone elses charger buzz when you remove it from the mains?
