*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Google's replacement system was dire in my experience. It took weeks to get a shipping bag to send the old phone back.

you're doing it wrong.

I made them pre auth my card, send me a new one next day and then returned mine within 2 weeks.

first class IMO

I would rma with that, as others have, if you google about that seems to be a random issue, affecting a small amount.

did you buy form google direct? as they will do you doorstop replacement

No, picked mine up in carphone warehouse, orange contract

That's what I did. But it took many weeks for them to pick up the old one, so they would have charged my card, had I not bugged them by email.

They sent me a pre paid jiffy bag. Just took it down the post office. This was last week so maybe they changed the policy.

I guess best speak to them. How long have you had it ? Under 30 days you might be able to just swap it.

Do a bit of googling but others have had it. I have heard of it before. Its not to be confused with the hiss of distortion you get on video recording , which appears to be software. I am pretty sure you would need that swapped as a device.

You still got the nexus 5 Jimlad?

Just been looking at a nexus 5 camera thread and some of the pictures are absolute corkers!

^ you still not bought a bloody nexus 5 yet? :p

Umm... they are always....

I've had a nexus 5, note 3, S4 and 4s in the last few months :o Figured I'd settle on the nexus 5 now. The note 3 I was happy with, but that got smashed in a couple of weeks (my fault indirectly) but made me realise it was too big.

The s4 sucked, laggy plastic cheap feeling thing. The 4s screen is too small for my soon to be another milestone eyes. Could be a new nexus out in six months thought, perhaps I should hang on and repeat this process then ;)

Yeah still got mine and one for the Mrs.

Had a Note3 for a while but sold it. Was not that impressed with the Screen res / font size

Just hoping 443 comes soon

Anyone come across any hints that the price may be going down again soon (say by end of the month)?

Typically still £270+ and trying to keep my budget to under £250.

so what rom/kernal is everyone running on here?

Cataclysm and Franco.

Could probably do most of what I wanted from Cataclysm with the stock ROM and Xposed, but Cataclysm basically is the stock ROM with the added features, and it happily installed over the stock ROM, so I didn't have to wipe anyway (I did a backup first in case it didn't work).

Just as stable as stock, same battery life, etc.

I borrowed a friend's S4 recently, and I couldn't believe how much better my N5 is. So much faster, smoother, and generally a better user experience.

Some of the Samsung apps and notifications are cool though - but not worth the premium when android has been so diluted.

Let's hope Samsung take note of that widely held sentiment.
