Hey guys! First post and in no place better than the OFFICIAL NEXUS 5 THREAD! I've been lurking for a while now and I've been in love with the Nexus 5 ever since I laid eyes on it. I'm finally in a position to buy the phone but was wondering whether a contract would work well instead (my dad thinks so), as opposed to a SIM-only thing. Any thoughts/offers known would be welcome. I'm leaning towards the latter though.

I had a GOOD feel of the phone in CPW (don't worry, nothing dirty :p) and will definitely go with the black one - probably the 32GB mostly because I thought "hmmm, why not?". Also to future-proof it somewhat. It's been a long journey but it is finally within my grasp!

I just ordered from the Play Store which was £348.99 delivered, unlocked so I can pop my EE sim in and off I go..

Looking forward to delivery now :D

Welcome to the boards ;)

What are people doing for headphones and this handset as it doesn't come with any?

I have an old set of iPhone 5 buds? This is more so I can have them in and talk while I walk

Thanks fallen will take a look

Currently using and iPhone 4 until the n5 arrives this week

It's like going back to the Stone Age, the n5 will seem uber fast after a few days with this beast

I only listen to music on my n5 so I just bought some cheap Sony in-ears from Argos. £8 and pretty decent tbh.

Ahhhhhh........for some reason I'm on the fence about going with the 16GB or 32GB. £290 vs £349. Should I treat myself and go with the 32?! Idk why I'm finding it so hard to make up my mind 100% (I can afford the 32GB). So indecisive! :(

I was in the same position as you. I bought the 32GB and have not regretting it. I take lots of pictures and video's and they take up some serious space. You could get a 16GB and a Meenova card reader to increase your storage options.
But if you can afford it, buy it :D Better to have too much storage than not enough. :)

I could have got away with getting the 16gb version as my htc desireHD only had a 16gb card in it and it still have 4-5gb free.
but I thought what the hell its my bonus money from work so went for the 32gb

32GB just sort of makes more sense, some games can easily take up 1GB, your going to be taking photos/videos, any time you might want a few movies on there too. With 16GB on my Nexus 4 I found it a bit annoying, I survived but I had to constant micro manage my memory, delete something here, move something there and so on. Now with 32GB I never worry.

If you can get the 32gb then you won't be concerned about space issues in the coming months/years

I was debating the same but stretched to the 32gb in the end, with cloud storage I suppose its not so much of an issue now but I just like more local storage

EDIT: Anyone know if the Apple bud (iPhone 5 version) work with the Nexus, think the sound is OK I'm more interested in the mic function

Also does anyone use the "hello google" command and on their phone and is it a gimmick or a worthy/helpful function

I use the voice search if I'm being lazy (and at home), but I hit the button to get to that point rather than asking it.

The search itself works well, even with my quite deep Northumbrian accent. :)

Went with 16GB here.

Don't bother with games on phone as they are all crap imo (full of micro transactions these days......) and don't watch movies, only thing that I keep in storage is photos and a few videos, with my one s (which had 2GB less than the n5) I had about 1000+ photos (including panormaos) and 15+ 1080P 1-5 minute videos and 15+ slow motion videos and still had about 5+GB left, backed up each day to my main pc so can free up room whenever required, thinking of using google photos sync thing now though since I have all you can eat data with 3.

Not much of a music person either, only got 2GB in total and it is all stored on google play music.

I use the Google photo sync thing and it seems to work quite well, syncing and backing up when I'm on WiFi and only the folders that I want it to. This allows me to view the photos easily on my PC and tablets as well as to share certain albums with friends and family members.
I just make sure that I deselect certain image folders (like wallpaper etc) from the backup folders and all seems good. I also maintain the original image size and not allow compression.

I can also use Picasa on the PC to share and upload albums from photos I have taken with my other cameras and share them via Google photos, pretty impressed with it so far.
