*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

looks like we have the last nexus phone lads :(

the silver program is kicking in for Feb 2015
So we're looking at buying phones through a network again, having their pre-installed crap to get rid of and paying £30/35+ a month for the phone? Surely we'll still be able to root them etc, they just won't be absolute Android vanilla?

That seems rather annoying, but if the hardware is great I wouldn't mind.

Also do anyone know if the CM 11S will come to over devices, some of the changes are really cool, and the One+ seem nice, but its too big and the invite system is just a huge turn off.

After 4.4.2 update the camera layout changed, Is there a way to get the old look?

Edit

Ok, got back the old look :o

Just placed an order for one of these £7.95 I'm concerned about Scratching my new N5 now

Yeah it works really well. I used to get the experience wet apply screen protector so I could ensure I had no bubbles, but the feeling was abit meh, and you got some nasty orange peel effect. These tempered glasses screen protectors are much better. I got one for my Dad's note 3 aswell.

Did I read correct, there is a lens protector in the pack for the read camera as well?

But why the new one is much better and less laggy

IMO it's not and personally the older look is much cleaner. So far the difference between new and old performance wise is this same... So, I'm not sure what you mean by 'laggy'? I also find it easier to navigate on the older one and I've only had nexus since Saturday ;)

The best thing about Nexus was having nothing to do with the networks.

Letting the network providers get there grubby little mits on the phones is only ever going to be a bad thing. Support life will drop, prices will rise, they will only be available on 24 month contracts and will come with network bloat all over them.

The advantage of having a range of phones to choose from is massively outweighed by the disadvantages.
