*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

The main big change for me which I can't decide I'll like until I get a chance to play with it, is where the quick settings are now located. Seems a bit more long winded to me, I have got used to the left side pull down for notifications & right side pull down for quick toggles in custom ROMS.

Apart from that really nothing looks different apart from the colour scheme which again I'm not totally sold on.

A few of the stuff being added I have had in custom roms for a while now.

Remember, this is the very first preview; Google will improve it with time.

I suspect they bring back the two-finger gesture so when you swipe down with two fingers it'll go straight to the quick settings.

Nice! This phone is just going to get even better when L arrives  Already finding battery life very good on my stock n5, easily get 2 days.

Do you use it? I have to charge mine at work briefly to make it last a full day. Gets used a lot, though.

Yup, mainly web browsing, emails and a bit of phone call use, I use both wifi and mobile data connection throughout the day (wifi etc. turned of at night and I get excellent reception for the majority of the time). Screen is on auto brightness. Don't watch videos (youtube video every now and then), play games or listen to music.

If I don't use it as much, I could get nearly 3 full days out of it.

Well I got the option to enable "OK Google" on any screen now. I can't turn it on though as it appears to only work if you use English US. I hate when Google do this.

Mine randomly loses data connection for no apparent reason. Switching the phone off and back on again seems to fix it, it's not related to the signal as it happens when I have a full signal and 3/4G showing up next to the signal strength. This ever happen to anybody else?

Humm I get this. It's mainly when coming to my work place. There isn't a loss in data but its very very slow. A reboot indeed makes it faster. Can I ask who your provider is? I'm with EE and plan to switch to 3 in October.

I get it as well I can either wait for it to start up on it's own again or flicking from airplane mode works to reboot the radios as well.
I've had the same problem on both T-Mobile and 3.

Have any of you guys taken vids outside on 4.4.4? The camera hiss is gone for me on indoor vids, but outside vids are hit or miss for me. Some vids I get a super loud wind noise even though it's barely a windy day. It doesn't happen on every outdoor vid, nor does it always happen for the duration of the vid. Like sometimes only some parts will sound like there's a tornado happening. It's actually pretty awful sounding.

Suddenly my battery life has gone to ****....

Not changed anything, still running pure stock and using the stock apps:

Screen has only been on for 43 min. "Phone idle" is far too high.

Tried looking at better battery stats but it seems like the app now requires root in order to show the most important stats...

Same physical location?

There's a few periods on there of poor network signal, those can drain the battery much quicker than when you're in an area of good signal.

Yup same location.

When I was on o2, I was getting worse signal and still getting far better battery life than that. This is draining stupidly quick when the phone is sleeping
