*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

That's going to be a pain for me if true as we have Cisco Meraki APs in work

Yea. Pain indeed. Let us know how you get on.

Looks like I will go back to 4.4.4 and see if connecting to corporate network, then updating when the OTA update is offered to my handset works.

I think however if you forget the network on 5, then try and reconnect, you will have issue again. Something about the encryption method used etc.

Should be fixed in time but when! It's a big issue for me as work only has Cisco AP's.

As far as I gather it's to do with AES. if the AP using TKIP then it works.

Also Í have to rollout our newer meraki system and all of us in the team that look after it have nexus 5s. 'that's not for a few months though so hopefully will be fixed then.

Can you update using WUG but not have to wipe the phone? An OTA is great as I don't need to reinstall apps or worry about my photos and things, but no sign of it for me yet :(

Problem with wifi at work. Cisco AP's.

Connects fine at home, but at work, keeps saving connected/saved over and over but never fully connects.

IPhones and other devices work fine.

Will cause an issue as means i can listen to music on my phne at work without using data allowance.

Oh wonderful. Seems to be a confirmed issue with Cisco Aps...

---

According to post 24, this issue only occurs with Factory image not OTA...

But they should theoretically be the same thing surely?

Seems I may need to go back to 4.4.4 connect to corporate network and wait forthe OTA after all....

I think i understand the problem, you need 4.4.4 to make the connection to the Cisco AP (as 5 has an issue) then the OTA update preserve the connection meaning that afterthe update you have 5 as well as connectivity to the AP.

I'm suffering the same issue, we've literally just replaced 480 3Com AP's with brand new Cisco AC & N Access Points, it's been a pain in the *** now. Strangely, sometimes it connects fine and no issues but most of the time it fails to get an IP and just puts an exclamation mark over the wifi icon

Can anyone confirm if they have gone back to 4.4, connected to the APs, then done a sideload rather than factory flash and see if it works or are we going to have to wait for OTA?

Got the OTA update. Love most of it so far but I don't like the white background on the app container and the Google search bar.

Nope, I didn't like the white background on the launcher tray either. Makes it harder to discern individual icons. I installed Nova Launcher.

Not unless you use another launcher or a theme. The whole point of having a pure android phone and a Nexus phone is not to have to hack around with it - IMO.

That's not the point I'm making. I moved from a samsung phone which had a huge amount of bloatware on it and "non pure" android. The reason I like the nexus so much is because it is "pure" android and I wanted to move away from having to root, mod and rip the ROM apart to make it work the way I want. For me the N5 doesn't need to be rooted to get the best out of it.

Android phones in general have a huge modding community, just like any PC, or car or quadcopter etc... community.

Lollipop looks great and seems to work really well so far, but it's just that bloody white background just doesn't suit it! However I'm not going to root it just to remove the white background!
