*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Sounds. Kitkat and Lollipop. The sounds google chose are just plain awful.

1. The lock screen sound is terrible. Sounds like the thing broking or something. Disabled it.
2. The HDR camera sound is awful! ANYTHING would have been better.

For the moment I have disabled, the lock screen sound and the touch sounds.

Really enjoying Lollipop, so far. Installed as OTA sideload (had the device not found problem in cmd, but it was MTP blocking USB debugging, once turned off it worked flawlessly).

The notification/options centre is excellent and I think the keyboard works a bit better (for me, anyway).

Face unlock is pretty cool, works about 70% (random made up percentage) of the time but even when I have to key in the passcode I like the new animations on the keypad.

No comment on battery life, yet, as I've enabled loads of stuff that I didn't have before and spent all of yesterday hammering the phone! Will see how it holds up throughout the working week :)

Enjoying battery life on Lollipop at the moment. Flashed it and set everything back up on Saturday, left it on charge until I went to bed that night and it's not been charged since.

So that's 1 day and 10 hours on battery, and I've still got 52% remaining. Screen on has only been 1 hour 12 minutes though.

It's a clear improvement in that respect though.

Problem with wifi at work. Cisco AP's.

Connects fine at home, but at work, keeps saving connected/saved over and over but never fully connects.

IPhones and other devices work fine.

Will cause an issue as means i can listen to music on my phne at work without using data allowance.

Oh wonderful. Seems to be a confirmed issue with Cisco Aps...

According to post 24, this issue only occurs with Factory image not OTA...

But they should theoretically be the same thing surely?

Seems I may need to go back to 4.4.4 connect to corporate network and wait forthe OTA after all....

I think i understand the problem, you need 4.4.4 to make the connection to the Cisco AP (as 5 has an issue) then the OTA update preserve the connection meaning that afterthe update you have 5 as well as connectivity to the AP.

Yup, I am asleep so no need to have a data connection during that time :p

I have a NFC tag on my bedside table so just need to swipe there to turn wifi on/off.

On that topic, another neat feature of 5.0, no longer have to unlock the device to be able to use NFC tags, just add it as a trusted device and turn the screen on then swipe over NFC tag

Ah, so you're turning off data too. That's not so bad.

I found my phone usually lost 2% of battery overnight with Kitkat with wifi on, so wifi itself probably used less than 1%, so I don't bother turning it off.

I do turn it off at work (a school), as the council managed internet requires browser sign in (meaning nothing coming through unless I log in manually) and my data connection is usually fantastic anyway. Hence the usage of the profiles feature in Mahdi-ROM to turn off wifi in a certain location, which I'm missing. :(

Yeah there probably isn't much in it to be worth worrying about, I do it mainly to stop the constant email spam ringtone :p

The main thing I don't like with 5.0, the removal of the gallery app, photo app is "ok" but looks a bit naff.

Anyone got any good alternatives or is quickpic still the best 3rd party app?

Enjoying most things so far. Only thing I'm not liking is that when using chrome the tabs are seperste applications. (If that makes sense?) Is there a way of turning that off?

Chrome settings - Merge tabs and apps. I found it annoying too!

I've gone back to 4.4.4 - the battery life was worse on lollipop than KitKat for me.

Waiting for 5.1 to be released which should have a few bug fixes in tow.

That's going to be a pain for me if true as we have Cisco Meraki APs in work
