*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I might try my n5 adapter just to see if it eliminates the beeping although I stopped using that adapter because it developed a slight buzzing noise....

Since the lolly pop update, I'd say my phone has kinda gone to the wall.
Over wifi calling is not working
battery time is terrible
most apps seem a bit sluggish
camera is dog poo - can't focus & viewer will usually be wavey

Anyone else had issues like this?

My camera didn't work this morning when I tried to take a pic - had to reboot.
And agree it's sluggish.
I have to reboot the phone a few times a week. I'm now getting to the stage that I'm actually tempted to flash it back to KK.

My Qi charger makes a bit of a ticking noise when not in use.

£2 charger made in China?

House fire 101

Can't stress this enough!

Ebay is a dangerous thing as it opens you up to non kitemarked equipment.

You hear about phones exploding, people dying and fires starting, typically from cheap chinese charger/batteries.

Steer clear of cheap electronics. :o

I had a complete nightmare setting up a Chromecast last night on my phone, but on my Dad's knackered Xperia running Jellybean was fine.

I've also had the camera issue Freefaller mentioned a few times now too. It seems that Lollipop has more than its fair share of random crappiness atm :/

Came in here hoping for pages of good things about the nexus 5 :( . I have been using nexus 4 for a couple of years, but it was damaged over the weekend and I am being sent a nexus 5 as a replacement.

Without reading through 300 pages, is there anything major I should know / do before getting my apps / data on there?

Mine is a £40 Maxell AirVoltage, not a ***** one ;)

That's HUGE!

My cheap jobby from the bay is connected to the USB hub in my monitor, which only works when the monitor is powered on, so I don't need to worry about it exploding into a ball of flames when I'm miles away. :)

If you're starting from fresh most seem to have few problems with Lollipop (there will of course be a few niggles with apps which haven't been optimised yet, but I can't name any). The issues seem to come from phones which have run KitKat for a long time before being updated to Lollipop. A full wipe soon sorts that out. :)

Yeah it is, it also has an LED to let you know when it's working... sadly it's on par with having a small, blue sun in the room.

So I covered it with some leccy tape :D

It was basically the only option back in 2012 when the Nexus 4 came out, cheap ones didn't exist then.

The N5 is still an awesome phone and an upgrade from the N4 will be fab, you dont necessarily need to have Lollipop on it, you could always flash 4.4.4 KK on if you want a niggle free experience

And now my battery life seems to have sorted itself out again

Got the 5.0.1 update on my N7 2013 last night so hopefully my n5 will get it soon.
